How many carrier task groups are in the South China sea?

I'm not sure. Great Britain sent their main battle group with their latest carrier at the end of this past November. We sent 3 carrier task forces there, and I am wondering about our light carriers; for instance the USS America was running the same training exercises as the Carl Vinson was, but all we know is she is in the Pacific somewhere, supposedly the eastern Pacific. The Gerald R Ford will be deployed in May. Japan just said they will in May, send their only carrier task force to join up with however many are there... and China is like, whatup?

Meanwhile, we are about to begin our yearly exercises with South Korea and we have sent in an additional Air Force, artillery, and missile presence on an unprecedented scale. The Carl Vinson carrier group is sailing north (from the South China Sea) to join the exercises. Bombers, fighters, ships, submarines, missiles, artillery, and men are pouring into South Korea like crazy. This is the first time in America's history that all 3 of her strategic bombers: the B-1, B-2, and B-52 have been deployed together. The News media is silent, but everyone on YouTube is like, "holy shit, this is really happening" and "yes sir" ... videos get posted with nothing but music and a look at all this activity over there, just to give you a sense of the buzz in the air...

All this power, including what is in the South China Sea, all of it, is in striking range of North Korea. When we go on exercise...

Today in Japan...

China is not happy, but there isn't a whole lot they can do about the massive international naval build-up in the South China Sea...

I'm just going to make a wild-ass guess that the first deployment of the Gerald R Ford will be to the South China Sea. The USS America might also be in that task group. The Ford should be loaded with half super hornets and half F-35s (40 and 40)... while the America should be loaded with a dozen more F-35s and a dozen of the mammoth Osprey helicopters for quick, agile deployment of the 1700 marines it brings. We have another LHD-6 and we have the LHD-4s, I am betting they all will be in the mix.

Order of battle:
I think we deal with North Korea first, then all these islands that China has militarized. I'm pretty sure China will withdrawal their resources rather than lose them. I'm also pretty sure that North Korea's generals will send their dear leader's head in a charger after a first strike incapacitates their entire nation.

Hopefully it's just one of those normal exercises.
heh - sure, it is. Tillerson visited South Korea today... I know that sounds funny as if today was already over at 1:50 AM, but the day hours are quite spent over in Korea.

Tillerson arrives in South Korea for 2-day visit (Link)

Tillerson's visit comes at a time of heightened tensions surrounding the Korean Peninsula after North Korea test-fired four missiles nearly simultaneously toward the Sea of Japan from its northeast on March 6, on top of more than 20 ballistic missiles and conducting two nuclear tests last year alone.

The secretary acknowledged in Tokyo on Thursday that U.S. policy toward North Korea over the past two decades had "failed" and underscored the need for a "different approach."

The average American has forgotten that we are still at war with North Korea. The very concept of being at war escapes all but the most elderly, North Korea is a nation at war, that's why they behave the way they behave. America behaved that way during World War II, we developed atomic bombs and we dropped them on cities. We were at war. We told the enemy that we were going to wipe them off the face of the earth and we tried to do so, cuz we were at war. North Korea is at war with us, Americans have forgotten that little fact. Today, the enemy has built ballistic missiles and nuclear warheads, everyone keeps asking the enemy to politely not use those weapons... and North Korea ignores everyone... why? Because they are at war.

This dictatorship is beyond sick, but that's not the reason we are reacting at this time. We are coming to the aid of our allies who are the target of North Korea's ballistic missile "practice" multiple launches. Like I said earlier, I'm pretty sure it violates the ceasefire agreement. Japan just committed their main carrier group into the mix in the South China Sea, think how Japan feels; they are facing total annihilation, they quit talking to China, China is nuts if they think they can bullshit Japan into taking North Korea's nukes.

But yeah, the regime in North Korea takes the cake for sick and repressive. Libs on this board are so blinded in their crazed hatred for Trump that they are justifying North Korea? North Korea??? They execute you if you watch a hollywood movie, they execute you if you don't look sad enough for the passing of the Dear Leader's father... they execute you for resisting rape, for anything over there. The Nazis were kinder to the Jews than North Korea is to its citizens. Their dear leader is worst than Stalin was; and Stalin was the sickest fvck to rule a major nation since the dark ages.

But the point here is not that North Korea's regime is sick, the point here is that North Korea is still at war and they have every intention of using these nukes against us and our allies... which they plainly say they intend to do.

So it seems there was no argument at all with China; I had a feeling that would happen. I really think there is a secret deal; we will let China keep their South China Sea theft from their neighbors, if they turn the other way while we remove the North Korean nuclear threat.

there's a lot of tongue in cheek going on...

Next up, Trump and the president of China get together. This president of China went to college in Iowa. He has major opposition from the old president (sound familiar?), I think he will hit it off with Trump. Our big bombers are flying out of South Korea and flying over the South China Sea, while the Carl Vinson and a couple of our biggest destroyers left the South China Sea and sailed north to partake in the exercises with South Korea. Japan has already committed their main carrier group to join Great Britain's main carrier group and our 3 carrier groups in the area. Japan will sail in May, the same month our newest carrier The Gerald R Ford will be deployed. We also have light carriers in the Pacific that are the equal of the carriers that Japan and Great Britain have deployed.

It is getting interesting...

things are heating up in China's self declared ADIZ (Air Defense Identification Zone). China is claiming this international air space as their air space. This is the heart and center of the East China Sea, it cuts into the routine of South Korea and Japan commercial traffic... and of course our military exercises in the area.

Breaking News - China Ask U.S. B-1B Lancer Out Of Its ADIZ in East China Sea

So how did we react to the ADIZ? We continue to send more and more flights into the area. We are not and should not back down. In fact, we just deployed the famed marine squadron 232 to the contested area.

Great Britain, Japan, and the USA are flooding the South (and East) China Sea with carriers, more carriers than just the 3 big American carriers in the area; which are outfitted with super hornets. The new helicopter carriers are carrying more than just helicopters, now that the new F-35B is operational, the helicopter carriers can bring more than just amphibious assault to those islands, they can add a deadly fighter intercept to the skies above, as well. While the big carriers are packed with hornets, which need the big flight deck to land, the vertical lift F-35B can land exactly the same as a helicopter. Japan just launched it's 2nd helicopter carrier, and sent it's first to visit the Philippines for 4 days, enroute to the South China Sea. (get on board Manilla!) Remember, Japan was the target of the latest multiple ballistic missile test from North Korea...

America has two of these amphibious assault/light carriers and is launching a third. Great Britain, like Japan has one already in the South China Sea and is launching another. That is 7 helicopter carriers that could potentially be deployed on top of our 3 big carriers in the area. Additionally, the new Ford carrier is about to be deployed, and what better place than the South China Sea? The Ford will be outfitted with half FA-18 super hornets and half F-35B Lightening IIs. Production of the F-35 is beginning in Japan. We sent four F-35s to Japan for training...

So, while the F-35 is ramping up production world wide, there is currently only a couple hundred in service. Meanwhile, we still have a 1000 F-15s and we are upgrading their capabilities. The North Korean Air Force can not compete with our upgraded F-15s. With bases in Japan, South Korea and the Philippines to operate from, expect to see a lot of F-15s deployed to the East China Sea area.

Great Britain flooding the South China Seas with carriers ? The Fleet Air Arm was scrapped along with its carriers . The only Carriers our pathetic government didn't scrap were the Helicopter carriers. We have two building , but knowing this pathetic government , they will sell them on completion.
The may be some old rust bucket sent to join the US ( with a fresh coat of paint) to placate the press but that's all!

Great Britain added their helicopter carrier to the mix last Fall. Now that the F-35B is operational, helicopter carriers have become lethal, Between Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and all the carriers in the area, there is amassing enough fighter intercept, bombers, missiles, artillery, and electronic warfare to take out North Korea's ability to fight - so fast - they could wake up one of these mornings with nothing operational.
