Additional Troops in Afghanistan

I say all the troops should be brought home, unconditionally, immediately. And the U.S. should withdraw from NATO.
We wish but there are two big problems with that wish. One is that, like it or not, the US is the Superstate and if it pulls all of its military might out there will be chaos and the second is, what all 'war' is about, .............. 'just business' and it is that 'just business' which rules the world.

Ideologically I agree, but realistically not even possible. If US pulls out completely, the Afghans are not strong enough to govern independently so that opens them up to ISIS, and then we go back to square one. Firstly, we should have never gotten involved in teh first place. We can't police the world.

Now, regarding NATO, I ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY agree with you. Like most globalist initiatives, it began as an idealistic dream but turned into another horrible reality.

Rare minerals, gold, silver, opium, pipelines and bordering countries keep US troops in Afghanistan but in the end the Afghans will throw you out as they would have done the Taliban/Saudi warriors and always have any 'foreign' invading force. They will blow up the dams I expect, as the Taliban were about to do -

NATO is 85% USofA, it is the USofA. It is an occupying force which has been taken over by the war industry. Saudi and Israel ( the sisters) are two of the driving forces within all the shit which is going down as well as Corporate.

1. The same argument made to justify every imperial occupation. Commonly known as the "white man's burden" argunent.
2. So labor needs to be mobilized to change that. Not just in the U.S. but also in Afghanistan where the organized defeat of the leftist government (following betrayals by the USSR and by its own political leaders) set the stage for the present state of affairs.

it doesn't matter no posts in this thread since 2017...

the same applies as it did then, and in 2012 and in 2008 and in 2002,,,

as a Army recruiter, back in 2004, we had a "army humor (aka 'black humor', gallows humor= sardonic)" saying that went:

"today, the last soldier to die in A-stan ,was born"

a twisted joke then, today reality--or really close

the first soldiers to be born after 9/11 have recently enlisted. many will be going to a-stan. some will die

"They" will always find a way to stay...

and!

People say there is no reason to study history, wasted class, etc, etc

anyone who knows history knows that 'winners' in A-stan wars are few and far between. Usually they only 'won' because they basically became afghans themselves--like the Greeks

everyone else may have controlled it for a time-but at a heavy price

russians, british,soviets..they all learned. add us to the list
