Coffee is important to soldiers, especially grunts. The lifestyle is one of almost never-ending suck, so a little comfort java can do a lot for morale.
This is a MALICE pack, version 2; I bought one back in '99 and it's the only ruck I used for the rest of my time on active duty (mine was OD green though). It's still in the back of my truck right now, in fact. See that pouch on the side, right next to the wearer's right shoulder? That was where I kept all my coffee fixins....coffee, flavored creamer, sweetener or sugar, heater blocks to boil water in my canteen cups, and all of it packed and padded to survive the impact of an airborne operation.
When you've been humping for days, sleeping 4-5hrs a night if you're lucky, (and even that only in 2hr blocks at a time), and you've been carrying over 100lbs of gear, and the guy who broke his ankle on the insertion, all while being hunted by the insurgents you fucked up the first night of the mission, being able to brew up a hot, rich cup of coffee flavored and sweetened just the way you like it, is a big deal.
These guys who sell this coffee, they understand this..... and I hope they get [Unwelcome language removed] rich from it.
