What Trudeau didn't say is that there is a special place in Hell for Trump...because that would have been childish...

Trump's problem is that he doesn't know shit about shit...He was a real estate developer.

So now, as he f*cks around with things he knows little about, but gets a handful of dairy farmers in Wisconsin to say "MAGA"....he gets companies who are on the low end of the profit scale with hundreds of workers and a reliance on Canadian steel who are having to curtail expansion plans and may not even stay in business....

Why do these european and canadian protectionist policies, tarriffs, and non tarriff throttles like import quotas exist in the first place?

The worst I'm aware of are Japan, India and China. I worked for a company that had workers in India...we were not allowed to ship Dell computers to them, they had to buy local PCs that were incredibly unreliable and more expensive....We finally brought some of those workers to the US and fired the rest....but that is common there.

We have our own protectionist policies...at present we are running a surplus with Canada. Trump doesn't know what he's doing.

Appears you've always had a problem keeping a JOB and lost count of how many jobs you've posted of having.......the NEW bank job may soon be same "a company I worked for" since all you do is post in PJ instead of working!

"WE" got a mouse in your pocket:)

I could be wrong here, but I believe most fair-minded Americans would acknowledge the U.S. has been on the wrong side of a trade imbalance for a long time.

If that's the case, the question becomes, what to do about it.

One answer would be to do nothing. That has the benefit of not annoying any of our trade partners. The downside, of course, is that the U.S. (and it's workers) continue to take it in the shorts.

This would be fine by Canada, among others.

Another answer would be to tell our trading partners we're not going to take in in the shorts any longer. Very upsetting to our trading partners - and perhaps a few Democrats.

Personally, I'm happy those who are more than willing to take advantage of us are now miffed. It's about time.

Sometimes conflict is warranted.

When you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything.

Trump's plan...nuke everybody, will be much like Smoot Hawley in the 1930s. You do not conduct negotiations with other countries by twitter.

There are a number of reasons for such trade imbalances and there are a variety of remedies....a trade war isn't one of them

There is a very fundamental disconnect between today's Democrat and normal, working class folks. The GOP has always been pretty obtuse, but the Dems jettisoning standard middle and working class folks in favor of their more...uhh...eccentric extremes is a fairly new development.

What would you suggest?

"Trump’s feud with Justin Trudeau looks like a stunt"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2018/06/11/trumps-feud-with-justin-trudeau-looks-like-a-stunt/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.efde1dd36645

"President Trump’s rationale for lashing out at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau does not add up.

"Calling Trudeau 'dishonest' and 'weak,' Trump cited two reasons to withdraw the United States from a joint statement on 'free, fair, and mutually beneficial trade,' which had been drafted at a summit of the Group of Seven industrialized nations over the weekend.

"In a tweet, Trump pointed to 'Justin’s false statements at his news conference' and 'the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs.'

Did Trump just melt like a snowflake in Canada?

Libs: happy as long as other nations bend us over and treat us like they’re the boss.
To hell with American people and workers, competition, and foreign citizens who have to pay top dollar for common staples.

Republicans think they should dictate winners and losers. They are out-and-out Marxists.

Democrats have been "anti- nationalist" and pro-globalist for some time. What is new is how brazenly they now advocate for non-Americans at the expense of US citizens. It's like they think foreign folks are their constituents.
Our kids must remain in even struggling public schools (no vouchers, no targeted tax breaks) while Dems romanticize foreign kids as "dreamers". In-state tuition for non-citizens...but if MY son wants to go to an out-of-state school the cost skyrockets. Nary a peep about other countries assigning tariffs, but they howl like wounded animals if America assesses it back to them (and I am anti-tariff, BTW).

There are DOZENS of examples of Democrats actively FAVORING non-Americans over Americans.

Democrats have calculated an electoral and policy advocacy strategy that intentionally forsakes working class and middle class folks.

Farm subsidies in the US. If you want fair/free trade that will mean an end to farm subsidies in US.
Farm subsidies are not tariffs. They are also about national security. During the next World War I would prefer to not go hungry or have ration coupons, thank you very much. You
