Partisan politics aside, that's right, the man just triggered political seismometers around the globe.
Denuclearization, reduced American Military presence, economic in Road potential, peace, and renewed Focus on a reunified and peaceful peninsula.

Any person with a half an ounce of sanity would acknowledge the merits of the outcomes of this meeting so far

The spin will be that Kim Kung Un played Trump, and that this is a terrible deal for the U.S. Results do not matter to those dealing with the heartbreak of TDS.....

Pretty good day for the rest of humanity, however. I am hopeful, but the devil is in the details, so I'll wait to see what actually transpires in the weeks ahead. So far, so good.

Complete denuclearization is not one page deal hashed out in 45 minutes. They didn't produce anything of substance. Just a press conference. I guess if you think exchanging pleasantries is substantial then the Singapore summit was amazing.

Clearly you are mistaken Trump was going to start nuclear war.

I can understand why you believe it's not possible this administration will accomplish anything with North Korea - the previous administration accomplished nothing with them over an eight-year period, so obviously it must be impossible.
For all he did he definitely deserves a "Mission Accomplished" sign.

According to Reuters:

Trump said he expected the denuclearization process to start “very, very quickly”. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and North Korean officials would hold follow-up negotiations “at the earliest possible date”, the statement said.

Trump told the news conference that the process would be verified, and that the verification “will involve having a lot of people in North Korea”.

He also said Kim had told him North Korea was destroying a major engine-testing site used for missiles, but maintained international sanctions on Pyongyang would stay in place for now.

So the sanctions stay in place until the denuclearization begins......Seems right to me.

Some thoughtful analysis on the prospects for success offered here from 'Asia Times'...…

Can Trump persuade Kim Jong-un to give up nuclear weapons?

The US president is offering something past administrations rejected – international legitimacy for the Kim regime. Unlike other options, it has a chance to succeed

President Trump is prepared to offer North Korea full diplomatic relations in return for full denuclearization, Jonathan Swan and Mike Allen reported at the website axios.com. The US president “is willing to consider establishing official relations with North Korea and even eventually putting an embassy in Pyongyang,” the news site quoted US government sources, in return for denuclearization.

The trade-off of North Korea’s nuclear weapons in return for international legitimacy for the Pyongyang regime is an approach that previous US Administrations considered and rejected. But it is the only diplomatic strategy that has a chance of working. Pyongyang might accept Complete, Verifiable and Irreversible Dismantlement, or CVID, of its nuclear weapons stockpile in return for one thing and one thing only, and that is survivability of its regime.

Imho, Trump, in conjunction with Kim and Moon Jae-in, have brought the prospect of peace in Korea closer to fruition than at any time since 1945. Trump sees what the US has done in Korea over the past 73 years which is more than any of his predecessors managed to accomplish:

"Another part of the agreement that I (Tim Shorrock) thought was very important was the fact that they’re going to resume—North Korea is going to allow U.S. military to resume searching for, you know, American soldiers that were killed and missing in North Korea.

"For a long time, you know, until about 10 or 15 years ago, the Pentagon was doing this in North Korea and working with the North Korean government in searching for remains. And now this is going to start again.

"And one of the things that’s significant about it is that it actually puts U.S. military personnel in North Korea. And so, you know, that’s a real change in the relationship."

Tim Shorrock grew up in Japan and South Korea; he has followed events on the peninsula closely for thirty years.

Didn't do it.

Trump did. Read 'em and weep, Progs.

Is it over? On going? I can't tell.
