The absolute dumbest AR 15 modifications made by superheroes

Mostly guys hang things are AR-15s for two reasons -- competition (it's why you see two types of sights, one for long range targets and one for closer in), and to piss off people like you.

There's nothing particularly wrong with the AR-15 platform as a rifle -- it's had about 60 years of R&D put into improving it. It 5.56 it shoots a reasonably effective ammo, it recoils lightly, and with a bit of customization it can be made to be very accurate.

No, that was one of the things to piss off people like you. But you'll see an AKOG or a low-powered scope on top of an AR, and a reflex (red dot) sight at about the one-o'clock position, and that's for competition. There are several ways to hang a flashlight beneath one, which is a handy option for pest hunters (it's not illegal to use a light on pests). My own AR has only a bayonet lug -- I built it to resemble the M-16 I used in basic training. One of the advantages of the platform, however, is that it is easily customized and accessorized.

Scopes are not needed for home protection, neither are rifles.

I don't own an AR for home protection. The scopes and reflex sights I described are for competition. If I felt the need for a gun for home protection I'd use a 12-gauge shotgun.

So says the moroon that lives in a state that has to tell you what part of an animal is edible
1x4 1x6 1x8 optics are multi-task optics that serves several tasks. they are used for close range like a red dot or long range
You don't know what you are talking about, it keeps you from having to buy more optics
Just because you are ignorant enough to live in a state that dictates that you can't have one don't get pissy with the rest of us.
