seems the longer this goes on the worst it appears for the Democrats as consensus overall seems to be that we do need better security along our southern border oh, so the question becomes how long can this carry-on before sentiment starts turning?

I don't know that they will. and in case you weren't aware I don't work for the government so I'm not sure how much traction I'll get if I attempt to engage in any sort of negotiation with Mexico

Nonsense. Trump “proudly” owned the shutdown.

But now that he has abandoned his wall idiocy (unless he flip-flops again), his surrender may result in a quick deal. Now it’s just a matter of deciding whether existing steel barriers get replaced in certain areas, whether they will be installed in some new areas, etc.
