When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up??

I got this from another board, and thought it would fun to do (and not political!).

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? What did you end up doing?

I wanted to be a nurse. That changed quickly after I found out what nurses really have to do....good for them, I couldn't do it! I've had different jobs through the years...florist shop, credit union, banks, even worked at a feed mill for about 4 years. The last 23 years that I worked though was as a Quality Engineer Technician at a world wide company. I loved that job, and do miss it at times.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Paleontologist. I grew up very close to the La Brea Tar Pits site in southern California and we used to go there almost every weekend to check out the ongoing site digs and the museum. It was cheap/free entertainment, so my parents loved it, but I was fascinated by every aspect of the science.

That does sound fun.....and interesting! So, what did you end up doing when you grew up?

HOW ABOUT YOU?
I wanted to be a music teacher. I did that. Hated it. Went back to school and became a high school English teacher. Loved it. But most of all I wanted to be a mom. I did that too and my kids all turned out great. I wanted my daughter to be a zoologist so I could play with baby zoo animals. She went a different direction.

I wanted to see the world. So when I was 17 I joined the Navy and saw every damn drop of it. In a 20 year career I was visited 13 foreign nations and have been around the world three times.
Cool. I didn't know I wanted to see the world, but I've lived in 8 time zones and been to 10 countries other than the USA(all of them driving my own car)............

I haven't been in the Southern hemisphere nor have I been around the world like you, and I really don't have any desire to do anymore major travel. But travel is something everyone should do every opportunity they get.
