We've been getting hit with frigid temperatures and snow galore since before Christmas, but the whole state got it this time, if not snow and wind, torrential rains on top of the snow that hasn't melted for weeks causing terrible flooding. I don't think any part of the state was left untouched by something or other.

Spring breakers on the beaches in Texas this morning better be wearing wetsuits.

I saw photos this morning of a dam breach there (before and after). Simply incredible.

Here is what I read below:

I know the big story weather wise across the country was the tornadoes that destroyed Kentucky however this dam in Nebraska thanks to melting snow and rapid heavy rains was destroyed there are entire towns that are literally submerged in 10-15 feet of water with little or no warning.

I read that the ‘cyclone winds’ we got with our storm originated in Dallas. Is that right?
If so, Thanks a lot, BDtex. :)

Not sure. Talked to a friend in Fort Worth on Tuesday night. They had high winds and hail on Monday night.

We’ve been lucky, though, regarding deaths. Since the first of the year, we’ve had 3 major pileups on Interstate 80 across the state and I think only one fatality. In this storm, the last I heard only 1 drowning and 1missing. They mY have updated it since then

i got that info from my phone app before ours even started. Crazy weather all over the place. The tornadoes have been devastating and early.

I saw pictures of the flooding in Nebraska.
I hope you and yours fared well with all of it.

Thank you. We are fine. Our area here is ok. Those closer to rivers got hit bad. Too much snow and ice and frigid weather keeping it around and this last storm with rain was the last straw.

Poor thing. That water would be frigid, too, chucks of ice from the rivers were washed ashore. It's been a very cold 2 months . Cows are calving now. Ranchers probably lost a lot of calves in the sandhills. They had a ton of snow and calves get lost from their mothers and the poor ranchers are out on horseback in that storm, looking for stranded cows/calves.

Thankfully, you and your family are all okay.

My heart goes out to those adversely affected by the horrible weather.

Hoping things get better in NE sooner, rather than later.

Yep. Heard of that being done plenty of times.
Impossible in some cases. our rivers were full of huge ice chunks. If it was just rain and not snow and freezing temperatures for 2 months prior, that would be the case. It has been done here as well during Spring floods.
