Congress sets 10 day deadline for Trump’s tax returns

And this time they confirmed that a “non-answer” from Mnuchin will be considered a denial, and off to the courts they will go. They had to do this because Mnuchin didn’t have the balls to just say “no” to the first demand for the returns - he just waffled and dissembled.

All this over a statute that says the IRS “shall” provide the returns upon request. The lawless Trumpies are struggling with how they can violate yet another law. This law is crystal clear. Trump put Mnuchin in charge of this, when it should be the IRS Commissioner, because Mnuchin has established his cred as a loyal, lawless Trump toady.

Mnuchin actually faces criminal charges for violating this law, so it would not be surprising to learn that Trump has promised him a pardon if he continues to violate the law to hide Trump’s returns.

Just the latest example of the Trump administration’s complete willingness to violate the law...

Are you claiming the law does not require a legitimate reason?
Here is the text of the law...

Upon written request from the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the Committee on Finance of the Senate, or the chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary [of the Treasury] shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request, except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.

You see the words “legitimate reason” in there? I don’t.

The law requires a legitimate reason to request tax returns.

Being butthurt over losing an election is not a legitimate reason.
But Trump "promised", oh oh, that was Trump then, and this is Trump now.

Oh well, his mentally deprived followers will still follow like the parasite fed sheep they are.

It’s fascinating watching them fully support Trump’s efforts to hide his tax returns, even when he directly violates a law to do so.

The Deplorables pledge allegiance to Trump, the interests of the nation be damned.

Liar. That's a snippet of part of the law.

What you posted is a snippet of part of the law.

True or false?
A snippet? The tax code is thousands of pages long. I pasted in the section in question. Not the whole tax code.

And that section does not have the words “legimate reason.” Which you would concede if you were honest. But you’re not, so you go into dodge and dissemble mode.

So what you posted is a snippet of the entire tax code, which is one law?

Hahahahahaha!!!!

Yes. The tax code is one law. A huge law.

But back to the topic, where is the statutory “legitimate reason” language you lied about?

Are you ready to concede you lied, or do you have some more dodging and dissembling to do?

So when Congress doesn't get them, they're going to throw a foot stomping temper tantrum? I can't wait to see that.
