Good for President Trump. Good for Fox News. Keep it up.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly mocked South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, making fun of his name — "Boot-edge-edge" — and deriding the Rhodes Scholar as Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman.

But the president didn't take an opportunity to insult the 2020 Democratic White House hopeful in a video clip released Thursday. Instead, he praised Buttigieg for campaigning with his husband, Chasten.

"I think it’s good," Trump said.

During an interview with the president, Fox News host Steve Hilton commented how he thinks it's great to see Buttigieg on stage with his husband as the couple normalizes same-sex marriage amidst the ever-present media spotlight of a presidential campaign.

“I think it’s absolutely fine," Trump replied. "I do."

Hilton noted that it's "a sign of great progress in the country," to which the president interrupted and said "I think it's great."

He added, however, that he believes some people in America will take issue with seeing the couple campaigning together.

"I think that’s something that perhaps some people will have a problem with," he said, quickly adding, "I have no problem with it whatsoever." The Fox News interview with Trump will air 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, an hour after Buttigieg has a live town hall on the network.

What a change from the bigoted, homophobic Barack Obama, who said:

I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage. But when you start playing around with constitutions, just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that's not what America's about. Usually, our constitutions expand liberties, they don't contract them.

calm down. there is a big difference between being a homophobe and being against gay marriage, and his quote clearly shows that....and like most intelligent people, he has evolved on his position towards gay marriage since then. but he was never a homophobe. and from what I understand, neither has Trump.

why do you have to lie to try and make a point?

Maybe it's because Buttigieg has a strong military record and the current Commander-in-Chief is a saber-rattling draft dodger who wanted a parade for himself.

He served in the military and was deployed to Afghanistan
In 2009, Buttigieg joined the U.S. Navy Reserve as an intelligence officer.

He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2014, which required him to take a leave of absence from his position as South Bend’s mayor for seven months. He continued to serve as a lieutenant in the Naval Reserve until 2017. According to his campaign website, he earned the Joint Service Commendation Medal for his counterterrorism work.

Buttigieg has touted his military experience, saying on his website he has "more military experience than anybody to walk into the Oval Office since President George H. W. Bush."

According to PolitiFact, Buttigieg’s claim is accurate because President Trump, former President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton did not serve in the military.

Even in comparison to former President George W. Bush, Buttigieg has more experience, the organization reported, because even though the former president served in the Texas Air National Guard from 1968 to 1973, he was never deployed.

Buttigieg served a longer term — 8 years as opposed to 5 years — and saw active duty.

Homophobia is a fear of gays, which often results in hatred toward gays.

Being against gay marriage can come from a religious point of view that sees marriage as only between a man and a woman. IMO, Obama was only taking a safe political stance for election reasons. Yes, that's lame on his part.

That was sort of a decent rationalization for hate but make no mistake it is a rationalization. For evidence I kindly offer the bible as evidence. Most who use their religion to argue against allowing people to marry are Christians and the only parts of the bible what address homosexuality being wrong are in the old testament. The new testament does not speak out against homosexuality. As such all those who are Christian, use the old testament (only a reference for pre-jesus dying for their sins) are doing so out of hate.

you can believe marriage is for procreation and so has to be between a man and a woman...duh..and it is a long standing tradition. so without really giving it much thought, are against gay marriage. but they are not for treating gays as second class citizens when it comes to employment or being served in public or having other equal rights all citizens have under our Constitution. the right to marry is not guaranteed in the Constititution, and 11 years ago, many liberals believed marriage should be between a man and a woman, as their religion clearly stated.

really, when did the equal protection clause get removed from the Constitution? Wanting to deny someones love, their ability to marry is based in hate. You can spin it, rationalize it or jsutify it how every you like but the end result is hate

Incorrect; it's science. A "phobia" is an irrational fear. Hate is a deep-seated irrational emotion. The commonality of claiming "I hate this" aside, actual hatred is as irrational as paranoia, schizophrenia or any other mental illness. Anger is temporary and can be rationalized, but hatred can last a lifetime. It's irrational because there's no logical reason for it.

So his draft-dodging cowardice makes it okay for Trump to be a draft-dodging coward too? I won't be voting for any draft-dodgers come election day. Will you?

Negative, just wanted to balance the lefts hypocrisy that they never post same of their draft dodgers i.e. Bill 'Slick' Clinton

Boots on the ground were better off with the draft-dodgers not being there to get them killed.

I don't hate gays, so your accusation is both false and obviously laden with emotionalism.

I support the rights of all American citizens to the same laws, rights and benefits as any other citizen. The entire "gay marriage" thing is a 14th Amendment issue as noted by SCOTUS a couple of times. The solution is to either stop refusing to recognize gay marriages (let's face it, they've been getting married for years) or to eliminate all rights and benefits to married couples. Easy peasy....but I doubt those couples want to give up a single cent. :)

Hypocrisy flows easily where politics is concerned. I don't agree with it, but I recognize it's there. So will you be voting for a draft-dodging cowardly liar on election day or not? I won't. I'll vote for a vet if one is on the ballot or simply a straight Libertarian ticket like in 2018.

I see. So you believe not recognizing the right of two consenting adults to marry legally IS NOT treating them as second class citizens. Do go on, please...
