…..and will do so again in 2020.

When Stephanopoulos told Trump the FBI’s director said the bureau ought to be called if a foreign government offers a candidate information, the president responded, “The FBI director is wrong.”

Trump also said a foreign government offering damaging information isn’t interference: “It’s not interference, it’s information,”

Let's call it treason, the modern definition. Undermining America's intel institutions in favor of foreign govts.

Rebuild With Biden!
The accidental president is at it again -- his comments are totally mind boggling.
Changed his mind from earlier comments it appears -- after seeing the polls , you think!

From your link:
While Trump’s answer to the same question now sounds like Kushner’s, the president told reporters a month ago he would not accept help from a foreign adversary during the 2020 presidential campaign.

“I don’t need it,” he said at the time.

Congress has been debating whether to beef up election security as the 2020 campaign gets underway, given the depth of Russian interference documented in the Mueller report. Despite the concerns of some lawmakers, and the despite fact that two security bills recently made it out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said that he would not bring up a security bill up for a vote in his chamber

There's enough collusion aka aiding & abetting between Russia and the Trump campaign punctuated by every single Trump campaign person LYING about those very contacts. Trump even wrote the big lie/explanation for the Trump Tower meeting claiming it was about adoptions. Mueller said he couldn't find sufficient willfulness to meet beyond a reasonable doubt threshold....because of all the lies and rank stupidity of Trump people.

Now Trump and Kushner SHOULD know by now the acceptance of foreign help is against the law, so what do they do? They say they'd do it again.

I missed when we all decided that “our intelligence agencies” were owed absolute fealty.
We expect that from our president......while Congress oversees these same intel agencies and holds them accountable. It's right there in our Constitution.

Trump ignores this law, considers himself above the law. Dummy Trumpies cheer.

"It shall be unlawful for a foreign national directly or through any other person to make any contribution of money or other thing of value, or to promise expressly or impliedly to make any such contribution, in connection with an election to any political office or in connection with any primary election, convention, or caucus held to select candidates for any political office; or for any person to solicit, accept, or receive any such contribution from a foreign national."

Sen John McCain turned the Steele dossier over to the FBI.

Trump didn't alert the FBI when Russians approached his campaign......and says again that he wouldn't in the future.

Who turned it over to whom is of absolutely no consequence. Who funded it and its origins certainly matter. It’s built of material from bought and paid for foreign sources.

Trump did not need need to alert the FBI when approached for a meeting unless something illicit or unethical was proposed or offered. This supposed meeting produced nothing actionable.

Balloon Juice . Ah yes, brilliant press credentials.:eek:
instead of just attempting to discredit the source, why not prove it is wrong or at least google what it said to see it is exactly right? do you see how lazy and trump voter like you are when you do everything you can to not even comment on how awful trump is, just try to deflect by bitching about something irrelevant? it is to everybody else. it is not even a good plan for a trump voter to be so obviously gutless about admitting when trump screws up...or do you really think it is okay for a candidate to accept ANY KIND OF AID FROM A FOREIGN COUNTRY...not an individual, but an actual agent acting on behalf of a foreign government, especially if the foreign country is our most dangerous adversary in the world? if he feels this way, why did he cry so much about a witch hunt of his ties to russia?

here is what balloon juice said in the article sourced-

When Stephanopoulos told Trump the FBI’s director said the bureau ought to be called if a foreign government offers a candidate information, the president responded, “The FBI director is wrong.”

Trump also said a foreign government offering damaging information isn’t interference: “It’s not interference, it’s information,”

you lost your own argument- this part here- unless something was illicit or unethical was proposed or offered....

trump and his associates were told, as was everybody else in the country, that Russian hackers illegally accessed servers connected with the DNC and John Podesta in an attempt to find any dirt on Clinton, because Putin wanted Trump to win to benefit Russia and Putin. As shown by these facts as sourced:

Below find a timeline of hacking activities by the Russian government:

  • Mid-March: Two cyber units of the Russian military agency called "GRU" send hundreds of spear-phishing emails to "hillaryclinton.com" emails, DNC emails and gmail accounts used by the Clinton campaign. The spear-phishing campaign allows them to gain access to John Podesta's email accounts. Podesta was a Clinton's campaign chairman.
  • April 12, 2016 – GRU gains access to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DDDC) server.
  • April 18, 2016 – GRU gains access to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) server.
  • April 18-June 8, 2016 – GRU compromises more than 30 computers on the DNC network, infecting them with malware.
  • April 19, 2016 – GRU registers a domain name to release stolen documents. The website is called dcleaks.com. DCLeaks also creates a Twitter, Facebook and email address.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. released copies of his emails with Rob Goldstone, a music publicist and acquaintance of Trump Jr., arranging a meeting with a “Russian attorney” to discuss potentially damaging information about Hillary Clinton. Below is a transcript of those emails, arranged in chronological order:

Good morning
Emin just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting.
The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.
This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump—helped along by Aras and Emin.
What do you think is the best way to handle this information and would you be able to speak to Emin about it directly?
I can also send this info to your father via Rhona (Trump's private secretary), but it is ultra sensitive so wanted to send to you first
.

Thanks Rob I appreciate that. I am on the road at the moment but perhaps I just speak to Emin first. Seems we have some time and if it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer. Could we do a call first thing next week when I am back?

Don

I believe you are aware of the meeting — and so wondered if 3pm or later on Thursday works for you?
I assume it would be at your office.

Steele Dossier.
Individual. Not acting as agent of foreign country. Long time source for many FBI and CIA info on Russia, due to his time as the head of the British Spy Agency in Moscow, the same contacts he used to provide info for his dossier, not using Putin agents but using Russians who were acting against the wishes of Putin, and would probably be put to death for just talking to Steele. do you not get that big ass difference? Steele was not working as an agent of Putin or Russia or ANY foreign government, but as an individual with inside info on how corrupt and brutal Putin was and with access to Russians who felt the same way, enough to risk their lives to speak out.

This is about as far from an “individual” effort as possible. I’ll have NBC news explain it to you as to how Steele was brought into this.
Steele got his information from foreign agents; regardless if they served faithfully under Putin or not is immaterial.
You can’t possibly claim the Democrats handled this opposition research any more legally or ethically than anything Trump’s campaign did. It’s totally dishonest.

Fusion GPS was later hired by an attorney representing the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, it was revealed this week. Fusion GPS formally hired former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele after it was hired by the law firm working with the DNC and Clinton campaign, a source familiar with the matter told NBC News.

The dossier that ended up being produced alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, and contained salacious and unverified claims. Trump has repeatedly denied collusion with his campaign and Russia, and has denied claims made in the dossier.
