Gun sales driven upward...

That is not an expected result, methinks.

better idea: focus on the root cause of the issues we face..

Seems like a logical result - When law-abiding people perceive that their right to purchase a firearm may be threatened by bureaucrats in Washington, they go out and buy a gun while they still can. Political rhetoric on the evils of gun ownership is likely to result in an increase in gun ownership.

In other words, the anti-gun lobby just did a big favor to those who sell firearms.

If the issues were ever to get fixed, then what would we need all those government officials for?
Yeah..

To me it's an issue of willingness. Willingness to tackle the issue underlying the matter.. mental health, and to a large degree, a degradation of morals and societal norms.

Instead they bogeyman an inanimate object.

If only we didnt have these guns for the mentally deranged and morally bereft black pits of a soul to get a hand on...we wouldnt have this problem.

Wrong.

We should be fighting against the degradation of our societal moral fiber.

Asking a government to even try to solve a problem, is the single best method ever found to make the problem worse.

From the link;
"In colonial India, Delhi suffered a proliferation of cobras, which was a problem very clearly in need of a solution given the sorts of things that cobras bring, like death. To cut the number of cobras slithering through the city, the local government placed a bounty on them. This seemed like a perfectly reasonable solution. The bounty was generous enough that many people took up cobra hunting, which led exactly to the desired outcome: The cobra population decreased. And that’s where things get interesting.

As the cobra population fell and it became harder to find cobras in the wild, people became rather entrepreneurial. They started raising cobras in their homes, which they would then kill to collect the bounty as before. This led to a new problem: Local authorities realized that there were very few cobras evident in the city, but they nonetheless were still paying the bounty to the same degree as before. In the end, Delhi had a bigger cobra problem after the bounty ended than it had before it began.

City officials did a reasonable thing: They canceled the bounty. In response, the people raising cobras in their homes also did a reasonable thing: They released all of their now-valueless cobras back into the streets. Who wants a house full of cobras?

In the end, Delhi had a bigger cobra problem after the bounty ended than it had before it began. The unintended consequence of the cobra eradication plan was an increase in the number of cobras in the streets. This case has become the exemplar of when an attempt to solve a problem ends up exacerbating the very problem that rule-makers intended to fix."

Likely a business calculation....If they believe they will garner more public good will in the short term, at least, they can subtract themselves from the gun market, and then reverse themselves later when America's attention has turned elsewhere.

If they do not, of course, it leaves a larger market share available for others to fill.

We'll see.

Agreed.

That's what happens when a party with major players propose:
- Banning Semi-Automatics
- Banning Magazines
- Enforcing Mandatory Buybacks

I had my predictions on what could cause another conflict in our country, internally. This sadly has the potential. It's not happening tomorrow, but look at the aggressive moves here by the left.

I cant get behind banning.

But I'm for severe restrictions on access.

I'm for complete restriction to access for anyone with a mental infirmity. (by that I mean persons who dress all in black and are threatening death on others.. not persons on anxiety drugs)

make sense?

Certainly, but the problem becomes the gray areas.

We already see the activists on the left trying to say Conservativism and Christianity are Anti-(insert label here), and thus, "hate speech".

Thus, what if leftist politicians are able to enforce that "hate speech' is "aggressive', and boom, restricting supporters of sovereignty from owning guns.

I'm not a doomsday debater, but don't you see how likely that can happen?

Agreed, but look at the matchup.

Beyond the silent majority on both sides, in the vocal minority, you have

FOX news, Right wing activists and Conservatives

vs.

Leftist Activists and Democrats, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, The New York Times, TIME, (90% of the media), Late Night Comedy Shows, Hollywood, Academia, RINO's, Music Industry/Performers...

Guess whose message gets "heard" and whose doesn't.

Government having a causal hand in the proliferation of “snakes” is a very applicable lesson in more ways than one.

Walmart misread this badly. It’s appeal to woke Whole Foods shoppers is quite modest no matter its contemporary virtue signals.

This is rather like McCain or Romney seeking to curry media favor. Whatever tiny gesture they may realize in the near term will be incredibly fleeting and quickly forgotten as the mad dogs default to pedigree.
