I hadn’t heard of Soleimani either. I have a good friend who is a naturalized citizen, born in Iran and raised in the Iran-Iraq War zone, moved to the U.S. in high school. His parents are also U.S. citizens but still live in Iran. He said he’d never heard of Soleimani either, he was far from a national hero, and he thinks the crowds mourning him are there at the prompting of the government.

I’ll forgive these unfounded attacks and just chalk it up to your grief-stricken state. A tremendous blow to you both personally (the loss of Soleimani the person) and in terms of agenda (the loss of Soleimani the terrorist). The American left is profoundly saddened and in protracted mourning.
