Trump going to The Hague

…..in handcuffs.

Iran will pursue war-crimes charges against President Donald Trump at the International Criminal Court in the Hague over the January 3 assassination of its top commander, Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Shortly after Soleimani's death, Agnes Callamard, UN Special Rapporteur on Extra-Judicial Executions, tweeted that the bar for lethal action by a nation claiming self-defense — as the Trump administration has repeatedly claimed — is extremely high and requires an imminent threat that the US has so far failed to identify. "The targeted killings of Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al Muhandi most likely violate international law [including] human rights law. Lawful justifications for such killings are very narrowly defined and it is hard to imagine how any of these can apply to these killings."

Trump was hoping for a Nobel Peace Prize for this illegal assassination. Too bad.

As Hannity would say to him, you're a fine american my friend.

"In what is the first ever conviction of its kind anywhere in the world, the former US President and seven key members of his administration were... found guilty of war crimes. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and their legal advisers Alberto Gonzales, David Addington, William Haynes, Jay Bybee and John Yoo were tried in absentia in Malaysia...At the end of the week-long hearing, the five-panel tribunal unanimously delivered guilty verdicts against Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and their key legal advisors who were all convicted as war criminals for torture and cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment. Full transcripts of the charges, witness statements and other relevant material will now be sent to the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, as well as the United Nations and the Security Council."

One might almost conclude lawlessness is in Republican DNA. With Trump, it sure is. Trump gave all sorts of explanations for the assassination of the Iran general because the lawyers knew it was against the law.

Bush was pushed along by the neocons to carry out the worst foreign policy disaster in our nation's history. Mastermind Dick Cheney knew to never leave the country again, that's for sure.

Interesting , informative read. Trump's lies/deceitful propaganda is why our country doesn't feel safe these days.

None of the briefers mentioned four embassies or any data showing where or when or how he might strike -- just probabilities.

When Republican Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Rand Paul of Kentucky challenged the briefers, the president weighed in with a startling tweet on Monday: "The Fake News Media and their Democrat Partners are working hard to determine whether or not the future attack by terrorist Soleimani was "eminent" or not, & was my team in agreement. The answer to both is a strong YES, but it doesn't really matter because of his horrible past!"

That boast of killing the general "because of his horrible past" sent off bells and whistles in the Department of Justice. Trump's retribution argument does not legally justify killing a person who is not engaged in violence at the time of the killing, and, arguably, is a war crime.

Thereupon, Attorney General William Barr revealed that the DOJ had been consulted on the lawfulness of the killing and signed off on it if the general's attacks on Americans were imminent. Now that the imminence argument had been undermined by the administration's own folks -- including the president himself -- the attorney general argued that Soleimani needed to die as a deterrence to others pursuant to the old 2002 AUMF.
These shifting justifications are contrary to reason and cannot survive a simple cross-examination. When did we start killing generals from countries with which we are not at war? Never in our history.

What would it cost the taxpayers to let impeached president Trump stay in the Hague. Whatever would be worth it.

How can an administration prepare a fail-safe explanation...when they had to chase after the reckless, IMPULSIVE actions of their president? They can't, especially when Trump changed his story daily.

Nah, we protect war criminals and we support 73% of the planet's dictators, don't be silly. Why we eve allowed Ghislaine Maxwell to slither back off into the shadows to set up another child sex trafficking ring for our pedophile aristocracy.

After his time in a NY state prison he should hope he's sent to the Presidential Suite in the Hague
Not to ruin your rainbows and unicorns day, but presidents get pardoned for their actions at the end of their term. :)

There is literally no chance Trump will end up in prison, and he will probably go on to advise the next president after him.

No they do not get pardoned at the end of their terms.

Who told you that ?

They can't be charged for their official acts as POTUS under US law. But crimes as an individual are on the table just like anyone else. Trump is being investigated for crimes he committed as private citizen, like his falsifying his tax returns and possible money laundering.

As far as the International Court that is explicitly for acts his acts of POTUS that are against the international community. US law does not hold sway over the decisions of other countries in regards to acts committed by our leaders.
