So, what should we do about health care reform?

Yep, that's how free market works. Competition is a good thing. Businesses don't need a nanny-state government protecting them from every possible business risk.
so, you'll humbly accept the ruination of your fledgling business and whomever it screws over.. employees, manyfacturers, suppliers, and the like? odd.

The entire world saw Don's campaign promises on healthcare and how everyone would be covered.

Two years with majorities in both houses and nada, zilch, zip, nein.

America is trying the same thing over and expecting a different result.
So you actually believe the reason the country elected Trump was healthcare? I mean in that we wanted more government in it?

That's funny. Try turning the channel from CNN once in a while. Sheesh.

hmm. no.

my pointis cancer care is infinitely more complex that some doc zapping your cornea for a fraction of a second.

cancer research and targeted medicines cost huge money...so, that cost is not coming down based on demand alone.
People should shop for the little things and have insurance for the big.

The U.S. doesn’t need such a bloated military either. And we the taxpayers are already paying for almost all medical research and development, after the government innovates those innovations are given to private investors so they can make exorbitant profits on them.
You should of read the details of what would replace the ACA. In it there would be an arbitrage court what would assign percentage of patent to the government based on basic research of a kind. That percentage would translate into monies for treatment if the communists at court could keep their hands off of it.

Cuba manages to provide high-quality medical care to people in dozens of countries despite a blockade making it hard for them to get basicequipment.
No it doesn't. Your wishing it did doesn't make it so.

And there is no blockade, there is an embargo. What goods Cuba would buy from the US are widely available in the rest of the world. Cuba can go to China and buy.

So basically, you want us to put half our income in an account that will be empty the first time we visit the dentist?
1) $8000 is half your income? Well, you'd qualify under and indigent program I'd imagine.

2) Why would dentist prices go up higher than they are today?

Just like anything you call “free stuff” ... the working class has paid into it in the form of “sweat equity.”
And they have been happy with their compensation. They've been buying homes, cars, snow mobiles, boats, fishing rods, season tickets, smart phones, TVs, computers, ... It is after all a $20T economy driven by consumerism.

WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!

I could justas easily say that a public health care program “should” provide cheap, high-quality health care to everyone. The only difference is that public health care programs have a long record of doing just that.
No, they don't. The viking states have very high tax rates to pay for "free" healthcare. That isn't cheap. High taxes pay for that.

that if people took a greater interest than maybe we would have more of an impetus to force prices down
I agree with that. But it's beyond that. Insurance should be for catistrophic losses, not daily bills. Obamacare forces payment for routine care, which should not be covered. Then with deductibles and premiums, no one can any medical care who didn't already have it through their work.

Government treats medical care exactly like if our car insurance paid for oil changes but then charged you five thousand or more dollars if you were in an accident

Sure, but it really doesn't work that way. most people can't fry an egg these days, let alone care and or make determinations about their own health.
There was a time they could when they had to. So time to take out the pan and butter and have people start frying up their own eggs again. It'll make for better citizens and a better country.
