No, its not incongrous, because I am not advocating for an idealogy, I am advocating for my self-interests. Just like everyone else. Your typical boomer's self-interests are raising Social Security payouts, funding cuts for higher education so they can fund tax cuts. And literally everyone says "tax everyone else but me, bro"
That's cool. My thinking is stealing one's education is wrong. Contributing to the care of others is good.

This is odd stuff. On the one hand it's pay for my student loans. On the other hand the retired can drop dead. on yet another hand it's pay for my health care. And on still another don't tax me bro.

Incongruous stuff to the max

How about Choice.

Want the state to get your Student loan paid off ? Great!

You get No SSi or State Funded Retirement.

BUT You pay in to both SSi and or state funded retirement.
Start your own business or the like.
You still PAY into SSi and or state funded retirement as well.
But get NONE of it.

Someone has to pay. Welcome to real life.

Self interest? It would without a doubt be in my families self interest to have our daughters College debt to be wiped out. BUT, I do not believe it should be. She signed on the line for that loan. It was her choice, and now its expected that she pay it back. Its called personal responsibility. Pay your student loan OB, you borrowed it, I didn't.

This is an example of what leads me to believe people are voting based on cultural issues rather than economic.
You just admitted it would 100% be in your family's best economic interest to have student debt wiped, but you don't want that because of cultural issue of how people feel about debt.

Not exactly. We raised our children to be responsible adults. You might want to try it sometime. Pay your own debts OB.

Our society decided that it would support such a thing and pay into it. I'm not quite so sure that our society decided that it would support another's indolence and graft.
People who rely on social security are indolent and grifters. They had their entire life to save for retirement they shouldn't rely on money I earn.

It does seem to me that you're doing neither so I don't see the point of your statement
I am in fact, paying FICA taxes, and my student loan. I would be able to pay my student loan a helluva lot faster if I wasn't sending my hard earned money down a black hole to support welfare queen social security recipients.

Social Security is going to go bankrupt about the time I retire, so I would prefer to end the ponzi scheme now, I keep my social security taxes, and Boomers get f*cked instead of me. You know, self-interests and all.
nah. the bern will save you. dont worry, i'm sure you'll be doing swell...
