Argumentation sometimes leads to truth.. turns out that the US...US agencies and the CDC were in the fight against covid much earlier that the crazed would have us all believe. as early as Jan 6 the US agencies were trying to keep it over there... Canada too.. Offering expert help to China, and aid. Much much earlier that som would have you believe.

Sadly, that didnt wrk, but at least we all dont have to fight over the timing of US action anymore. Sigh.

"On January 6, we offered to send a CDC team to China that could assist with these public health efforts."

"I reiterated that offer when I spoke to China's Minister of Health on Monday, and it was reiterated again via the World Health Organization today."

..and then a whole list of preparedness points follow
..
In January.
Good luck.
You um er...just destroyed half your buds themes here on PJ.

Thanks for affirming the US..in a multilateral agency and private sector effort were combating covid in early Feb.
.. striving to aid it's containment in countries hit then...,.
Some more Team Trump buffoonery...

In February, that worthless load Mike Pompeo sent 17.8 tons of masks and other PPE to China. Adding insult to injury, one of our people who delivered it came back infected with the virus...

No quarrel here - Trump sent 17.8 tons of PPE to China early on. No doubt the result of Trump ignorantly thinking the epidemic wouldn’t strike here, leading to interviews with our own medical workers, crying because they don’t have the PPE they need.

hmm. maybe. or maybe it was an effort to contain it...there.. that is equally valid...in the land of reality based.

Anyone can have 20/20 vision after the fact. Trump's worst actions were to downplay the outbreak, as when he said there were only 15 patients in the US and 13 of those were nearly fully recovered.

What if we'd immediately begun to quarantine anyone entering the country with a passport stamped from China in the last 30 days, back in January?

Like I said, anyone can have a better idea in hindsight.

i'm not sure how to engage anymore... when there were only 15 patients in the US. are you saying it was wrong to cite that there were only 15 patients in the US?

LEt's start right there.

No further.. let's just tackle that one small point, absent embellishment, or bringing in any other thing...

right or wrong to note that there were only 15 at that time...

yes. i agree wholeheartedly....everybody that is an armchair QB is correct in hindsite..

Trump downplayed the severity of this from the very beginning. He told America that this was no big deal at the same time that Senators that heard the same briefings were dumping millions of dollars of stock. The virus is pandemic in the USA precisely because of Donald J Trump. And that's why it will go down in history as the Trump Virus.

cool. 60. drop a link on me and I'll stipulate same.

good?
There are 66 cases in the US, according to the Johns Hopkins data, although the CDC figure sits at 15 confirmed cases as of Friday. The difference between the two figures is a result of the CDC not including people returned to the US via State Department–chartered flights.

What absolutely MUST be observed here is that one of the PJ “crazed” had dual top posted screeds as follows:

1) Trump foists xenophobic hate of Chinese while we’re in virus crisis

2) Trump sent tons of PPE to the Chinese while it was/is in the grips of virus crisis.

That’s right. The SAME DUDE top posted that Trump HATES... and FAVORS... the Chinese.

:-/

These folks are completely nuts. It is so far past bizarre and/or absurd that I can’t convey the level of sheer, blinding nuttery.

Did you read about the shootout the CIA had with the Chinese in Wuhan?

The one thing that is certain is we are not being told the full truth
