Trump was warned on Jan 29....

“The lack of immune protection or an existing cure or vaccine would leave Americans defenseless in the case of a full-blown coronavirus outbreak on U.S. soil,” Mr. Navarro’s memo said. “This lack of protection elevates the risk of the coronavirus evolving into a full-blown pandemic, imperiling the lives of millions of Americans.”

Dated Jan. 29, it came during a period when Mr. Trump was playing down the risks to the United States, and he would later go on to say that no one could have predicted such a devastating outcome.

Mr. Navarro said in the memo that the administration faced a choice about how aggressive to be in containing an outbreak, saying the human and economic costs would be relatively low if it turned out to be a problem along the lines of a seasonal flu.

But he went on to emphasize that the “risk of a worst-case pandemic scenario should not be overlooked” given the information coming from China.

In one worst-case scenario cited in the memo, more than a half-million Americans could die.

Yep - this gut is a major league Trump kiss-ass. Yesterday he was arguing that he knew more about how effective the Trump snake oil treatment was than Dr. Fauci who countered Trump's false claims.

Hence the travel ban on China. Remember, the one you said was "racist" and "xenophobic".

You people did this to us.

Why lie Marvin? I never said it was racist or xenophobic.

Trump didn't do a travel ban on China. He restricted some travel, but not all. Did it work? Nope.

Neither did I. I praised Trump for this ban but you have to remember facts don't matter to the shortbussers.

Media outlets bashed President Donald Trump back in January after he implemented a travel ban from China because of the novel coronavirus – a move that many other countries have now followed. The Trump administration first made the announcement Jan. 31, 2020, announcing they would restrict foreign nationals recently in China from entering the U.S.

Fact check: Did the Obama administration deplete the federal stockpile of N95 masks

Our rating: True
We rate this claim TRUE because it is supported by our research. There is no indication that the Obama administration took significant steps to replenish the supply of N95 masks in the Strategic National Stockpile after it was depleted from repeated crises. Calls for action came from experts at the time concerned for the country’s ability to respond to future serious pandemics. Such recommendations were, for whatever reason, not heeded.

Obama left us defenseless.

Did it work? Was it a complete ban? No. In the weeks following his restrictions on travel something like 40,000 people entered the US from China.

Let's assume for a second that that is true.

How does that excuse the fact that Trump did not replenish them in the three years he has been in office?

And why was it that Sweden the world's role model for socialized medicine did not institute a ban on Travel to China and then not a complete ban until 2.5 weeks after Trump?

Beginning on the 17th February, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised against all trips to the Hubei province in China, as well as non-essential travel to the rest of China apart from Hong Kong and Macao.[26][27]

Obama has been out of office since JANUARY 2017. When are the Republicans going to stop blaming him for Trump's mistakes?

Absolutely correct 100 percent...There is no excuse for thinking that a Democratic would handle his or her job. It's clear that we cannot trust a Democratic and any Republican who doesn't cleanup after a Democratic is to blame. Clearly Obama did not know what he was doing and we all knew that. He was elected to be the first almost black President. It is incumbent upon Republicans to clean up your messes.

Excellent post P.N.

Can't you read? "restrict foreign nationals recently in China from entering the U.S." What is it about that part of the sentence you can't understand?
Yes. US citizens were brought back from China. You seem to have a problem with that. Would you like to tell those citizens why you choose to deny them entry into their own country?

trump blew off the virus to keep from freaking out the Stock Market as long as possible. That is the bottom line.

Like I said a couple of times, trump should have stationed the National Guard at Ports and airports around the country on Feb. 1st. Checking peoples temperatures and giving those people masks for starters since there was zero test kits except from WHO which trump declined. He should have been making it happen that America had more masks than they needed. That inventories be taken of ventilators and gloves and gowns etc. The trump administration had ZERO guidence for the Governors only bluster that it was all a hoax.

trump = behind the eight ball from day one.
