Mayo Clinic cardiologist: 'Inexcusable' to ignore hydroxychloroquine side effects

What are people whose doctors advise them to use the drug but can't because some politician says it is too risky to do?
Like in NY or Nevada where the medicine is available but the governors refuse to let pharmacies dispense it right now for example.

Well our healthcare "system" is what it is, the US sucks at it. Enjoy our "way of life"-n-death.

of course, but then how are other uses discovered? you guessed it.. off label use.. cause effect.. trial error..

see: finasteride.

good luck.
The hypothesis that it may be effective may come from (dangerous, to patients being treated and to others needing this drug) off-label use. But the evidence that it is in fact effective could only come from controlled clinical trials.

Let him swallow some if he wants.

yes, which have occurred for hcq....just not for covid. (that is to say..the side effect profile is known up to a point.. yes trials are needed, but yes dr's can prescribe it for other purposes absent those.. all facts.

(which, for the dumber among us, is not an endorsement of trump. it is in fact, fact...)

After extensive double blinded clinical trials per each indication, yeah. Clearly you, like Don, have never worked in drug development research. I think you should go ahead and follow Don's every hunch. Don is right about one thing; I have nothing to lose by your following and swallowing.
so sonny, i do. severe AE reporting, clinical trials results submission to the fda, the whole works....

but no, you tell everyone what you see,,,by making it up.

no. it can come from controled clinical trials AND prescriber trial and error.

See finasteride... and keytruda...

good luck...

There have been 4 very small-scale trials for hydroxychloroquine for COVId-19. 2 showed a very slight helpful effect for patients and 2 showed no effect.

What does “trial and error” mean without placebo controls, double-blind studies, or systematic comparisons? Anecdotal evidence.

very small, the first i believe was some 18 patients..but no combo therapy

No one did studies on this compound for this indication. Tox data? Ok, at the dosages in those studies. Not finished by a long shot. Just a nice short cut on the tox studies if the dosages don't go higher for this indication.

Get fvcking real, you're clueless.

Why?

By count of people recovering while on the drug... Maybe?
We have well established drug development studies protocols and procedures, none of which involve a consideration of "meh, what do you have to lose" from a wackass jackass who's earlier hunch was "it's just a hoax".
