My favorite - perhaps just because of the imagery, is the story of a Jewish soldier serving in Germany. Evidently his unit was being devestated by a German soldier in a machine gun bunker. The American soldier rushed the bunker, pulled the lid off with his bare hands, "clocked" the gunner with his rifle butt, and then dragged the guy across the enemy line and took him prisoner.
