The fact that we are only 5% of the world's population and yet we take 50% of the drugs is pretty sickening. As I've pointed out before, the AMA says that some 125,000 people die each year from prescription and otc drugs and another 2.1 million are injured by them. Given the large of amount of them that we take, it's no wonder.
Composing Only 5% of the World Population, Americans Take 50% of All Pharmaceutical Drugs
What we really need to do is to END the war on drugs! It is Prohibition! Didn't anyone learn anything from the Prohibition of alcohol? Here's what I learned:
1.) It proliferates gangland activity
2.) It forces government expansionism to fight the newly created gangland activity
3.) It is in direct conflict with the Fourth Amendment
4.) It turns our cops into killers, and the government into dealers
5.) It makes the commodity more valuable
6.) It makes the commodity more impure
7.) It has created a Privatized Prison Industrial Complex
8.) It is responsible for a huge proportion of illegal immigration due to Cartel violence
9.) It is inhumane as drug addiction is an illness
10.) IT DOESN'T WORK!!
In 2001 Portugal decriminalized ALL drugs and it has cleaned up the streets! Now Ireland is doing the same thing! It is NOT the governments job to imprison people for drug use! PERIOD! The governments duty ends at informing the public of its dangers not incarcerating us.
