There Should BE NOTIFICATION WHEN A THREAD IS CENSORED

Thank you for your response. Obviously no-one could have known the content of the post that I wasn't able to post, but I was letting you know that the discussion at that point was a civil discourse and had been going on for a while. As long as the thread was, any flaming that might have been there would have occurred well back and was no longer occurring.

The situation did make me feel quite unwelcome and that a lot of my time had been wasted. Part of that included trying to figure out what the hell had happened.
without a frame of reference unfortunately i cant reconstruct it or comment on the why other than what I already said.

Sounds to me that you and others were the babies who were thrown out with the bath water.

Maybe there should be a couple of forums say Dem and Repub for eg - which hecklers can be banned from - So a flame free zone or two.

Queen,
While this would be nice, it should be noted that the moderators here aren't paid. And to have to explain in this way each time they take an action would be hugely time consuming. It's easier if the system has a reply that pops up. That pop up isn't available in every case. I have noticed that Phil is very good about coming onto a thread and explaining. He doesn't need to do that. I appreciate that he does.

Most of us know when one of our posts are over the line - or we should know . And it is fine that we send things out there that are on the edge or slightly over that edge. Nothing wrong with trying to make it fly.

But when an action is taken, we are smart enough to know why. No sense feigning outrage when we know better.

On occasion, we might feel that the moderator has overstepped and that we are in the right. I know when that happens to me, I shoot off a message to the mods or to the admin asking about it and I've always gotten a good answer.

All we have to do is be the adults we are while posting here, and it'll all be okay.

I thought they were paid. Why would anyone choose to do that?

technically speaking, isn't this whole thread against board rules? Discussing moderator actions or perceived inaction on the open board?

(ducks):p

That the one who wrote the TP can now delete the whole thread at any point is new, I noticed it not long ago, again when I was in the middle of a conversation. It didn't matter in that particular case but - Can something be done about it? Because if this was the case in this instance, that the TPoster deleted one thread with over 200 replies in it, it is a bit mmmmm off putting?
