That's actually quite good, Woolley."If you think fertilized eggs are people but refugee kids aren't, you are going to have to stop pretending your concerns are religious."

You are one of the more rational religious folks we have here and I always enjoy your point of view. My personal opinion about Christianity is that it is founded upon a truly great concept, love, compassion, empathy, care, selflessness, humility and understanding. In many ways, this is the core of all great religions. What I have a problem with is Christians. That's actually quite good, Woolley.
But I don't think most people who are feeling like the kids should not get help believe that they are not people...or probably closer to what you're meaning.....they don't believe that these kids should not be cared for and protected.
My guess is that they're a bit distracted with thinking about the fact that there's been such a tremendous influx of unacompanied children with no explanation or meaningful discussion from the Administration on why it's happening and/or how to stem the tide.
On the flip side, though, one could easily make the argument that each one of these children began as a fertilized egg. For every face you see in those pictures of children being deprived, you can wonder how many were deprived of their lives because some folks didn't think they should be treated like living human beings when they were very, very, small.
Well said gigi, and an excellent counterpoint to the raging bigotry and idiocy of the TP.That's actually quite good, Woolley.

You and Gandhi, right? You are one of the more rational religious folks we have here and I always enjoy your point of view. Nobody is perfect, Woolley. And my question is always the same...If the Christians who aren't saying "We should help...how can we help...let's go help" are the rule, aren't the Christians who are saying those things and doing those things also the rule? Who decides who the exception is?You are one of the more rational religious folks we have here and I always enjoy your point of view. I haven't been paying attention more than a couple of years, but it seems like some folks want us to pull out our Christianity for causes but then put it away when it comes to causes they don't agree with. If we're Christians and we say take the loaves and fishes approach to these poor kids and take our money to help them, that's fine and we're good and Christianity a loving mentality. But if we're Christian and we say God is making that child don't force my money to facilitate his or her distruction, then we're mean and pushing our faith on others.Well said gigi, and an excellent counterpoint to the raging bigotry and idiocy of the TP.
The conservative perspective always comes off sounding sane, rational, sensitive and intellectual compared to the mouth-breathing, troglodytic hatred spewed by the left.
Well done...
The raging bigotry of the top post? If by bigotry you mean judgement, guilty as charged. When I read posts like yours it only helps me understand why there is no middle ground between the far right and the rest of the world. There is no middle ground here to discuss. The future will not lie in some great compromise between the far right and the rest of us. The future will lie in the complete marginalization of the far right by everyone else. Your time has ended, you just haven't figured it out yet.Well said gigi, and an excellent counterpoint to the raging bigotry and idiocy of the TP.

I think you're going to be a bit surprised as it becomes evident that "everyone else" isn't as many people as you thought it would be. There are some folks, and in the post above you sound like one of them Woolley, who remands everyone to the other side if they don't agree with everything you think. The raging bigotry of the top post? Again, well said, and again, you make quick work of exposing Wooley and his ilk for the bigots they are.I think you're going to be a bit surprised as it becomes evident that "everyone else" isn't as many people as you thought it would be. What you want here is for Christians to take up your points of view, to choose what you think over what our God wants. And if we don't, then "marginalize them!" Doesn't work that way in America.
Our time here will end exactly when yours does.
