His political career - at the state level - isn't over. His realistic national aspirations, are. His problem is that too many to his right weren't down with him and too many to the left-middle will use this as a good excuse to write him off.
He reminds me a little bit, of our GOP Atty. Gen. who everyone knew intended to run for the upcoming gubernatorial seat that'd been held by Democrats for decades. As this is an executive rather than legislative position, I was seriously considering the guy.
But...the dumbshit made a big-assed miscalculation along the way. He decided to sign himself on to the red state's challenge of Obamacare. The Dem. Governor and legislature were a little put out but...the courts said he could do it (on is own the the GOP's dime).
The only thing that makes sense on this one, is that he was afraid he'd be challenged in the primary, by some GOP more nasty and hateful than he. In the end...he wasn't. His primary was a walk over but.....it guaranteed his loss in the general.
Similar is true with Christie. In order to have a shot in the '16 general, he'd HAVE to win over some measure of middle-to-lefterism. Now, he won't.
