Or push off you.Trouble with that is, if he gets hit, he's harder to carry to the medics.

I had to carry a joe down off a mountain to the medics once when he hurt his leg. He was the smallest guy we had, and I was in the best shape of my life at the time, nothing but muscle, gristle, and a mean streak, and I still passed out for a few minutes after I dropped him on the litter.Or push off you.
I can understand that. Lugging a 50 cal around, hell even a 30, can get tedious in a hurry. Or loading several hundred Mk. 7's can wear you out. Thank god for 'cease fire'.I had to carry a joe down off a mountain to the medics once when he hurt his leg. I quit smoking cigarettes a few months before one of my deployments, but after a few weeks back there I started right back up again. I was getting lit up about 3 times a week.... I figured as long as my lungs were still inside, then that was good enough. I only smoke cigars now, and even those I don't smoke every day. Drew Estates Java Mints...... ummmm . Mint chocolatey goodness......
I love it. But trust me, it didn't always work. When I was a kid, I lived next door to a early-20's Marine who'd done his Vietnam time. He was as healthy as could be and I never saw him smoke. I asked him about that one time. He said he smoked in Vietnam, to keep the bugs away.
I'm just glad he got hurt on the same side of the mountain that the medics were on, because if I'd had to haul him up and over it, instead of just down one side, I'd have probably died. I had to go back up that mountain and pick up the squad and MG team that I'd been leading when he got injured, and we went back to our 3 day patrol. I think I got about 6 hours of sleep total that whole time.I can understand that. Lugging a 50 cal around, hell even a 30, can get tedious in a hurry. I used to chain-smoke Marlboro Lights in the field in Alaska to try and keep the mosquitos away..... them fuckers will try to carry you off. When I was a kid, I lived next door to a early-20's Marine who'd done his Vietnam time. I've spent time in a variety of tropical environs but....Alaska's mosquitos and black flies still "reign" supreme. We like to suggest that those skeeters are bigger than average, but they're really not. The problem is that there are just so damned many of 'em and they're so tenacious!I used to chain-smoke Marlboro Lights in the field in Alaska to try and keep the mosquitos away..... them fuckers will try to carry you off.
Didn't rolling him down the mountain enter your mind? That's terrible....I'm just glad he got hurt on the same side of the mountain that the medics were on, because if I'd had to haul him up and over it, instead of just down one side, I'd have probably died. Too many rocks, and way too steep..... that's the mountain range that stopped Alexander the Great.Didn't rolling him down the mountain enter your mind? That's terrible....
I remember a lot of sleepless nights, or very little sleep.
