Those damn Koch brothers! Oh, wait....

This is where all PJ Dems who always suggest that their party is above such things need to face the music.

Both major political parties are structured the exact same way. I rarely see GOP'ers deny this reality, but Democrats do nearly all the time.

The fact is, the Democrats are also beholdant to special interest billionaires, Wall Street, etc.

Arkady, Middleview, Julie, Renee... Yes, your party is the exact same evil you speak against.
Was it Democratic Supreme Court nominees who crippled campaign finance reform?

they could make it clear, voluntarily. but that might cause outrage among ordinary citizens. better to take the 5th, and not incriminate yourself and your party, i guess
The Dems continue to fight the Citizens United ruling. As long as it is the law of the land why would the Dems allow the Repubs a fund raising advantage? How does that make sense?

A fair majority of the ads I see in Colorado are from Karl Rove (Crossroads) or the Koch Bros(Americans For Prosperity).

It isn't hypocrisy, it's pragmatism. Democrats have fought to try to reduce the roll of money in the political process. They've been thwarted, again and again, by Republicans and by arch-conservative Supreme Court justices, who know that money in politics tends to favor the GOP, so they don't want limits. So, Democrats have to play the game according to its current rules. There's nothing remotely hypocritical about that. I'm sure Republicans would love it if the Democrats would unilaterally disarm, but that would be a disservice to the American people.

The sports analogy here is simple enough. Let's say there's some feature of a sport's rules you disapprove of: the DH rule in baseball, the 3-point shot in basketball, or the 2-point conversion in football, for example. You can campaign your ass off to get that rule changed. But if you lose, and you're a coach, you aren't being hypocritical if you then use a DH, or call for a 3-point shot, or go for a 2-point conversion, when that benefits your team. It would be incredibly stupid to disarm unilaterally that way.

It's as if the right-wingers don't even understand what the term hypocrisy means.
Look what I found! It's perfect for you!!!

I'll admit I've got a big ego-- and the stupidity of so many posters here is making it worse, since it creates a false impression that I'm smarter than I am, simply by the ease with which I dispatch their weak arguments.

I'm honestly not sure.

What I do know is that their hand is in the cookie jar just as much as the GOP is. They are matching the Koch Brothers. Washington Democrats are on the house floor complaining about the Koch Brothers when they are doing the exact same thing.

A
re you going to talk to me about the pureness and nobility of the Democrats here Ark?

So, how ridiculous would it look like if:

1. A manager, using a DH, came out and complained about the other team using a DH
2. A coach, taking three point shots, complained about the other team taking three point shots.
3. A coach, after completing a two point converstion, complained about the other team attempting a two point converstion.

I'd say pretty ridiculous.

I'm sorry, but if you're choosing to use what you define as dirty tactics, you can't preach pureness from the pulpit and damn those who use the same tactics.

Well, at least you can't honorably.

I guess we can look at it as income redistribution when wealthy people spend 70 million on campaigns that money gets spent in the USA. :)

One side is attempting to overturn Citizens. The other side is not.
One side is taking money from folks like the Koch brothers....The Koch agenda has to do with changing EPA rules to benefit themselves. Adelson is looking to whatever he can do to help Israel (and maybe change taxes on casinos)....as far as the rest go...who knows? Their names are a secret.

Can you actually point to any indication of the intent of democratic donors?

* See DC's list of Kook posters*
The amount of money each side gives isn't what's important. It's how fascists like the Koch brothers and Rupert Murdoch are using it.

And you don't see the SCOTUS' decision on Citizens United plays into this.

Interesting read, writeon, thanks. The scariest part of so much power from the Koch's is summed up perfectly in the last sentence on your link. imo

As has been widely reported, the Kochs are now considering a purchase of eight major daily newspapers currently owned by the Tribune Companies. And that has Deal worried.
"For anybody who says the owner or funder of an outlet doesn't have an impact on what gets published, I hope they'll think again."

This country is going to hell, Addy. The right wing fascists, and their cheerleaders here on PJ, are using the right wing SCOTUS' ruling on Citizen United and voters rights is sickening.

Republicans have, for decades, talked about how Europe will fall because of 'Socialism' after 5,000 years of existence. But look at these fascists here in America. They will bring this country to its knees in just 230 years.

F'em!
