view police and other law enforcement as persons who are inherently bad, who lie, whose every act and intention is to be assumed to be malicious, of ill intent, and without regard for the safety and well being of those they serve....or may have cause to interact with..for whatever reason?
Naaahhhh....we just have ten times as many as we need to keep us safe and 90% of them are trolling for revenue or using the "war on drugs" to violate rights and confiscate property so that we can continue to have ten times as many of them as we need.

Law enforcement has become an out of control, self-feeding bureaucracy that doesn't really have time or the will to fight crime. That's costly and dangerous. Better to fleece honest, working people who can pay the fines. Just make them less than the cost of a lawyer.

Did you file a complaint? No.
I wasn't keen on making myself a target.

When a cop stops you for any reason SCOTUS has established that for his/her protection the officer can pat you down to ascertain you don't have a weapon. I agree.
It was some time ago when there was a sane court. In any case, if what you say is true, a cop could stop anyone, to ask the time for example, and so be able to search that person for everyone's protection.

If the cop goes into your pockets that is a step too far unless the officers has an articulable reason to suspect you have committed a crime.

Are you saying that you were walking down the street one day minding your own business while in good company and a police officer singled you out to put his hands down your pants for no articulable legal reason? And you didn't file a complaint as a grown ass man? Why not? Not procedurally complaining is what lets cops get out of hand over time.
It was one incident, and it was a long time ago, 25 years at least, yet it still bothers me. It caused me to mistrust the police. Imagine if that sort of thing happened to me repeatedly over time?

That was my point.

Take it up with the Supreme Court as to what is reasonable and a search. Frisking someone for a weapon according to SCOTUS is not a search. Reaching inside somebody's clothing is.

You aren't capable of thinking that there are some bad police officers out there but most are good?

Know your rights and stand up for them. Video tape your encounter. The police will start to comply.

When I'm being approached by a cop, which happens infrequently, I'm forever hoping it's a good cop.

So what did that cop do to you to scare you like that? Originally it didn't sound like much.
More outraged than scared at being illegally searched. It wasn't like I was carrying anything illegal, so I didn't have to fear being arrested for that. Of course, if a cop is going to search me illegally, I suppose there is a chance he'd also plant evidence against me, and I'd be scared of that. I also considered resisting his demand briefly, but that would have certainly resulted in me being arrested, yet I wasn't so scared of that rather than anxious to get on with my day.

And why did he stop you in the first place?

That is the language that people in those neighborhoods understand. If you don't use that language (like me) you aren't respected in those neighborhoods.
What constitutes those neighborhoods? How many have you been in and conducted an experiment where you 1) talked without using the 'f' word and didn't get no respect and then 2) talked while using the 'f' word and miraculously obtained respect. Methinks you wouldn't get respect under either case but I didn't run the experiment, you did. I know you did because otherwise you wouldn't make such a stupid claim as "you aren't respected in those neighborhoods" unless you use the "f" word. (Must make their church sermons interesting....)

Yes. The word is anarchists.

Sadly, there is little chance of that being the truth, but thanks for the kind remark.

See... that's why I don't think fascists should be purged, commies either. You people aren't all bad.
I'm sorry you took the communist purge comment to heart. Had I known I'd have directed the purposefully misplaced epithet at a complete stranger. ;0)

Understood.

However, I'm afraid you're going to have to prove you aren't fascist at this point, yet your repudiation of torture is problematic. I really wish you would reconsider the make-believe opposition to torture. I mean, no fascist in his right mind would repudiate torture unless it was part of an even bigger lie, so you're only tipping your hand.

My apologies nonetheless. I'm sure you can relate how some can be misidentified either fascist or commie. Tough break it happened to you.

spoken like anyone that speaks the truth.............yeah, guess it would take a conservative, no liberal is going to speak the truth.

It's like all this 'Black Lives Matter'.........toooooooooooooo Who?

http://www.hpe.com/news/x1736889964/Blood-affiliated-gang-responsible-for-heroin-overdoses-gun-violence
Black death now moved to small rural cities and brought by Blacks, so who is it that cares for those Black Lives'
I guess it's those (like the Nation of Islam) who are organizing to get the gangs and the drugs out of their neighborhoods?
