Jet fuel that's a good one.
I would like to spry the lawns and playgrounds where family members of Monsanto executives live .
If they insist Round up is safe they and Monsanto should have no problem to include every one of their employees to the same test it its SAFE prove it by using it on yourselves.

That's a great idea and while you're at it, spray all of the vegetation around
all of the people and politicians who are proponents of Monsanto and their ilk.

Oh yeah, and make sure that no organic food is available to them. Let them eat GMO cake.;)

You mean like Congress joining the healthcare exchanges, and giving up the cushy plan they have, because of how great they told us the ACA was going to be for people?

Yes included the politicians with an extra dose of chemical spray for the dirty money they received to support this corrupt company.

If it meant they could keep making a profit. I have no doubt they would expose their employees and executives to it.

Round-up is a horrific scourge on the land. Rather than spray it on the lawns of anyone, I just think people should get the word out about what horrible effects round-up is having on the insect population, particularly the insects we rely on like bees and worms. Insects are fundamental to our biosphere, even the ones people don't like, such as spiders or scorpions or cockroaches. We cannot live or grow food without their contribution. What people don't get, though, is that when we apply insecticides or pesticides to the ground we affect the biosphere down to the tiniest of microbial contributors to maintaining the viability of our soil. And these applications make them mutate in ways we cannot foresee. Weeds and plant diseases and fungus we think we're eradicating with poison simply evolve ways on a genetic level to be resistant to our poisons. Those evolutionary changes make the plants that have evolved to be resistant be no longer resistant. Monsanto and other corporations that think short-term and "poison it all to hell with the consequences" are leaving us vulnerable to new strains of plant diseases that would not have evolved except in response to their poison. And the beneficial insects, which live in harmony with those insects we think as not so beneficial but are actually necessary to the interworkings in the complex, are the innocent civilians being slaughtered wholesale in the monsanto war.

Just getting the word out is obviously not enough. You're exactly right in the things you've said here and the fact is that a lot of people already know. They simply get over ridden by the power brokers.

The Monsanto execs and our politicians have enough money to buy their way around all of these things that the rest of us are getting stuck with. I agree with AIL that steps should be taken where they too would have to live ( or die in some cases) with the things they expect us to live with. That's would it would take to get their attention.

It's my understanding from what I've read/heard re those weed killers esp. for corn. They just have to keep applying higher concentrated amounts of the toxic poisons to do their job... as they become resistant.

Feeding the masses is a priority but we definitely need solutions other than the high levels of toxic poisons now being used on our food crops.

Most of the corn grown isn't a food crop for humans. http://www.epa.gov/agriculture/ag101/cropmajor.html It's a food crop for animals we eat. The lack of biodiversity in what is grown is also a problem. I don't remember what the stats are, and am too lazy to check, but we only grow a tiny fraction of the edible foods out there and most people eat only a handful of different types of fruits and vegetables.

Silage fed to beef and dairy cattle, imo still possibly contains the toxins from the poisons... finding its way back into the food chain.
I agree. It's why I don't eat much meat and try to grow as much of my own food as possible. But my back yard isn't that big, and I can't grow much of any one thing. Nevertheless I eat well in the summer / fall! Spent today baking banana peels, which I powder and mix with powdered egg shells (which I baked yesterday) for homemade organic fertilizer for tomatoes and pepper plants. I'm so anxious to get out into the garden that I have to do something to prepare. I have quite the container of powdered banana peel and another of powdered egg shell sitting and waiting in the fridge. I got peas out but they're just tiny so far. Well, I think they're still there; right now they're buried under the 8" of snow we got Friday night. Argh I am ready for spring.

It's fun and satisfying to grow some of your own food, especially organic. I have had organic gardens before and it's quite a bit of work. Turning all of those leftovers into compost piles and keeping it turned/stirred daily... until the earthworms start doing it for you.. :)
But when you have some good moist/fluffy compost to go into your garden... it's really neat to see the dark color on the veggie plant leaves and how the ground conserves its moisture with the rich compost.... I also used to mulch a lot with straw/rotted hay -- years ago to keep the weeds down...
Bone meal added to your compost is/works great as well...It sounds like you are off to a good start, Bob.
Good luck with those snow peas. :)

The worst thing is how both sides of the aisle are completely in bed with Monsanto and for that matter big pharma. I posted last week about the Gov't changing recommendations for cholesterol in our diet. You know the the thing we have been told to avoid for over 2 decades ( and big pharma has made a fortune off of Statins), well low and behold you only get about 10% of your blood cholesterol from your diet. Oooops. Now it is no longer a nutrient of concern, and hell you would have thought I posted some hard core partisan rhetoric because I dared say that Gov't is was wrong about that, what else are they wrong about. NOT even mentioning political party and the best of the hacks came out to bitch about how its no big deal because I dared question Government.

Monsanto is bad news. And, NO side is willing to do anything about it. And, when you come out and question the things about Government that have failed to do their job and to protect the actual citizen, you get jumped on from both sides, when you point out that Gov't has said something is bad, which turns out not to be so, how far is it to think, maybe the thing they say is safe, is ALSO not so. Its ridiculous though.

And, the stuff about this being necessary to feed the population is ridiculous. The populations weren't starving because there wasn't enough food to feed everyone. We pay farmers not to produce for goodness sakes. Its that there were problems with distribution of the food we do have.

The problem is, like the human body, the environment is a very complex system designed to work in natural concert with each other. Every aspect has its own job to play. When you screw with one thing, you screw with other things down the line. I think we can not even begin to grasp what this kind of damage this product has done to the environment and our health.

This isn't a topic that should be politicized. I agree completely with your fourth paragraph.
