Not my president.

Obama is a disgusting Commander in Chief. I have never been more sickened by a president's overall performance and values expressed on behalf of America. What else can you expect from a leadership establishment that hung Officer Tensing out to dry. They are to a man and woman dishonorable.

Ladies and gents, resulting from the text message I received yesterday, I can confirm that the United States Navy is bringing charges against Lt. Cmdr Timothy White for illegally discharging a firearm on federal property.

The text message asked if it would be possible for Lt.Cmdr White to reach out to me. To wit I replied, affirmative.

What kind of freaking idiots are in charge of our Armed Forces — pardon me, our “unArmed Forces”? What would they prefer that Abdulazeez had been able to kill all the Marines and Sailors at the Naval Support Reserve Center? Let me draw an interesting contrast: Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus is more concerned about lifting the ban on transgendered Sailors. Mabus has a problem in that for the first time since 2007 the US Navy will not have a Carrier Battle Group operating in the Persian Gulf. But this knucklehead has no problem with the Navy seeking to destroy the career of a Sailor, a commander of an installation, returning fire against an Islamic jihadist attack. I do not care if it was his personal weapon, he deserves a medal for facing the enemy.

Folks, this has become the Obama military that will not implement policies for our men and women in uniform to be protected — but will punish them if they do protect themselves. What ever happened to the Navy of John Paul Jones, Farragut, Halsey, and Nimitz? What has happened in our America where we believe that our men and women in uniform — especially the commanders — are just targets for these damn Islamic jihadists?

The best high-ranking officers in our military have been either gutted or broken. I'm not sure what we're not left with, but I'm sure I don't want to know.

I agree with you about Obama. The damage he has done to every corner of this country will take decades to repair..............if we survive.

Allen West is running for office. As a retired LTC, he knows restrictions on military personnel carrying their own guns into the office have been in place for his entire military career. They were in place during mine from Reagan to Clinton.

What LCDR White did is against Navy regulations and, for the good order and discipline of the service, he must be accountable for his actions. Still, I hope he is charges and punishment, if any, are minimal and that the DOD review it's security of all our military personnel.

It's always best to take the ramblings of a nut-job like West with extreme skepticism.

Be happy, we've been repairing the damage of the Bush era ever since Obama was elected. The work has been slow, but the progress has been significant. That's obvious in the realm of socio-economics, but also in the realm of the military. As you'll recall, in the Bush years, our military was exhausted by an uninterrupted stream of dozens or even hundreds of body bags coming home every year of his presidency. Long deployments were wearing down the force, such that even with unprecedented recruitment and retention bonuses, the military had to cut its standards severely in order to find enough people to throw into the meat grinder. Even with a military budget vastly larger than any other in the world., we'd reached a state of unreadiness. If a real threat had occurred, not only would we have to have faced it with sub-standards personnel, we would have had to respond while a large share of our forces was pinned down in two bloody quagmires in the Middle East. That has all changed in recent years. The flood of dead service members has reduced to a trickle, the brutally long and frequent deployments have lessened enough that we've been able to return standards to their former levels, and the bulk of our forces are again available to respond to actual threat to our nation, rather than being dedicated to the insane projects dictated by neoconservative whims. It will take a while to completely undo the damage done by those who installed Bush in the presidency, but we're moving quickly in the right direction.

Why do you find that funny? I can see objecting to the regulations. But, as long as the regulations are in place, they amount to an order. Should the military simply ignore willful defiance of orders? Picture it in the context of an order that, perhaps, you'd be more sympathetic to,like an order against military personnel using marijuana. If someone were found to have done so, anyway, would you want the military to simply ignore that?

Given the circumstances here, I'd hope there wouldn't be any serious punishment involved -- assuming he didn't have any kind of track record of ignoring regulations. Presumably some token slap on the wrist would be sufficient. But if, indeed, he chose to ignore regulations, then doesn't there have to be at least some symbolic punishment, to maintain good order... otherwise, aren't you just inviting service members to pick and choose which regulations they feel like following?

Both of you someday might learn how little you understand.

You don't fvck good men. Leadership 101.
True. In this case, LCDR White willfully violated UCMJ articles 92, 133 and 134. He's a career Naval Officer, so he knows better. Unlike chickenhawks, armchair warriors and other clueless idiots who know little to nothing about the military but gladly put politics in front of national security and our nation's service personnel.
