MaryAnne, your knowledge is limited by who the media chose to talk to and demographics. Not ALL of the people in that area wanted them gone. But it does make a nice story to talk to only those that agree with the media's position....amirite?

If you think the feds handled this very well by shooting down a man who was innocent of violence himself, what would you consider handling things badly?
Why would anyone support the armed hostile take-over of federal property with threats to shoot at law enforcement? It's against the law.

Finicum set himself up to be shot aka suicide by cop.

They are afraid of the Fed - not the Bundys but what the Bundys bought with them.[/QUOTE
Oh? And all along I thought they were white...

EVERYONE knows that "THUG" is code speak for Blacks. Crypto-speak, so to speak... LOLOLOL

If I'm not mistaken, Julie from Ohio (that's you) was one of those who vehemently argued that Whites can't be THUGS.
The Bundy bunch are all thugs. They had already cheated Tax Payers of one half million Dollars grazing on Government land in 2004, then they recruited more armed thugs from all over the Country. They had snipers lying on the Highways to shoot Police Officers.

After they broke into the Wild Life Refuge dating back to Theodore Roosevelt, they used Government computers, destroyed them.

But this time the Feds had a well planned program set up. They made sure they had arrest warrants. Then after giving the gang plenty of time, then set their plan in actions. They picked up Cliven Bunday as he stepped off a plane.

We have just seen a well executed plan by the Feds. One man tried to escape. He is now dead, the rest all in jail. For once our Federal Troops acted perfectly.

That Wild West I am reading about has not existed for 2 centuries. We have paved roads out there. Wireless phones and TV's.

They even have a few Casino's not too far away. :) I even win at them some times.:)

Every one of them are in jail now, including the blanking snipers.

Good riddance.

It has everything to do with the Land the Feds have confiscated --- because it is rich in minerals. Once TTP and TTIP are signed and ratified any Asian or European Corp can, without any hindrance lay claim to any minerals or any other resources anywhere in the US - if they are hindered in their quest they can sue the Government, your Government for projected loses. Minerals MA, minerals is what it is now all about. Not only will they be able to lay claim, they will not be legally responsible, nor will any of their work force be liable- for any damages or harm done including deaths, toxic waste etc, nor will they be responsible for cleaning up after themselves nor for repairing roads, for there will be lorries 24/7 in such places as they wish to mine or frack. Just a little shack in the middle of no-where is not what the Fed are protecting --- it is minerals. No Native Americans voices will be heard then - nor yours, nor Bundys nor anyone else's.
President Theodore Roosevelt set the Wild Life Refuge as Government land in the early 1900's. The Government did not confiscate any thing. They were set up as Recreational areas, long before these thieves were even alive.

And I do not give a whit what a few people in the area wanted.

Those guys broke the law many times and are now in jail.

I am not here to quibble what a few people in the area wanted. Most of the residents wanted those Law Breakers gone, and now they are!

Charcat does not realize how easy it is to do research these days. Any one who takes the MSM as factual have a screw loose.

The video shows Finicum clearly reaching in his pocket where he had a gun after running a blockade twice.

The real people who work for the State. Many there do, what were once thriving country towns have been devastated by the Feds confiscations and interference, to run their confiscations and interference the Fed employ people who would otherwise not be there or who have lost their true livelihood.
There was a protest not long ago, just after LaVoys murder, I watched both your media and some footage from the other side of the protest, those on Finicums side much out numbered the State workers but your media 'edited' their footage --- you are watching only the Corporate media --- get out of the Corporate box and take a real life honest look at what is really going on in your country.

I am getting updates about what is actually going on there - I suggest you find a source too, to keep you in the loop.

That said - the argument is much more subtle than pro or con the Fed. The majority of the local people seem to be sympathetic to 'The Movement' - they were not so happy with Bundy's way of going about protesting and, it seems, more because of the timing of it, election time, than anything else. Why? Because they want publicity, they want their voice heard and that the subject be properly discussed.

Again, the Bundy's are not 'my dog' - This story held my interest, I thought 'wow it's like the Wild West' I found it intriguing, endearing even - but because of all the Corporate media hype sort of thought 'Oh they are all just gun nuts and this will end badly for them' but also wanted to hear their side of it ( knowing a bit about the Feds thefts of Land and fracking and etc) - --- thus I was introduced to LaVoy Finicum whom I took a warm liking too --- When I heard there had been a shoot out and one was dead, I prayed it wan't him, I expected it to have been a shoot out at the Refuge --- when I saw the truth of it and listened and watched I became more and more horrified by the story of a good man, perhaps making a stance at the wrong time in the wrong place, being mowed down by 100 guns in an ambush - and that this footage was shown the world over --- If that is not The Empire speaks, do not mess with us, I have never seen anything like it, other than the US footage in Vietnam, Afghanistan or Pakistan killing of farmers and other simple people. Horrifying ----
Good ,lord, Queenie, you do not have the vaguest idea of what you are talking about. We have laws in this Country.

Why? Now we may not talk about a subject? We must know our enemies by knowing who we may not talk about eh?

Go and listen to what the people there think MA - they may not have agreed with the way - or rather the timing of this but they are sympathetic to 'The Movement' against the Fed, which has destroyed their way of life, and horrified by LaVoy Finicum's cold blooded murder by State. He had many friend MA, you will not hear their voices on the media though --- Shawna Cox has a gagging order on her, after they tried to murder her too - what are they so afraid of? One little woman's voice? Your Land of the free - free speech? that is just a joke, they are kidding with ya.
It would be fine if you had any idea of what the discussion is.

Where was the armed occupation in Ferguson?
Ask Ferguson store and home owners.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-30190224
The sun's shining this morning on South Florissant, which saw some of the most violent demonstrations outside the Ferguson Police Department last night.

Local residents have been up since the early hours cleaning up the streets. Shopkeepers are boarding up shops. A small group of protesters is yelling at half a dozen police standing outside the department.

A group of residents is standing outside a beauty parlour which was looted last night. Its windows have been smashed in and they're hoping to stop anyone else coming in and looting.

"We're trying to come together and get past this", says Judy. Everyone's expecting more demonstrations tonight.

"They let our town burn," says Anastasia Knowles. "They sacrificed us for Clayton," she says referring to the choice to deploy the state national guard there and not in Ferguson.

Authorities said more than 80 people were arrested amid chaos in several areas of St Louis overnight. Sixty-one of those arrests were in Ferguson, with charges including burglary and trespassing.

Untrue - That pampered rich boy, rich out of the misery of others, like birds - the hat trade were murdering birds in their thousands for their plumage - which was the only reason he set up the Park, to protect birds from the hat trade. We no longer wear hats, much, we definitely don't wear plumage, unless we are monsters, so the Parks use is now needless.

You don't care what the people in the area want? So when the frackers move into your neigbourhood tunneling under your house, pouring toxic god knows what into the ground --- if the rest of America says 'we don't give a wit what you want' that will be fine by you - eh?

They trespassed --- big fuc'kin' deal --- protesters have trespassed for as long as I have been grown. Big bloody deal.

You should have been around during the Sixties with the Weathermen and Black Panthers. Obviously you would have been a Republican then. ;)

No it does not --- he had been shot. Is one of your precious Law about what one must do with ones hands after being shot? Wow even Saddam Hussein wasn't that tyrannical.

I could piece one together if I felt like spending hours on it but I do not, feel like it --- most are not talking and your Media never asks.

Those questions never asked are usually our answers ---
While it is possible the Feds really have devastated Harney county by confiscations and interference, it is also possible corporate forces like the Koch brothers and ALEC want federal land for private exploitation. When you factor in the radical religious elements involved, I suggest we wait for autopsy reports and whatever information becomes public at the upcoming trials before rushing to judgment.

The Womans' Brigade of the Weatherman Group are who bought Feminism to us.

Not the ground roots movements, they were different --- when the group disbanded some of the woman joined Baader Meinhof - some formed a group in the Netherlands -- but most went into academia in the States and in England --- They, the Womens' Brigade of the terrorist Group the Weatherman are today's Feminists.

Let me make this as clear as possible. I am an Independent, 22 year military VET who just happens to have been raised in the area where this is happening. These idiots ARE terrorists. They brought guns and did an ARMED takeover of public land and property. Their agenda is NOT based on anything remotely resembling anything patriotic. It is based on greed. The belief some ranchers have that they should be able to graze their herds (no matter their size, or the resulting devastation to the vegetation and landscape that is also needed by all our natural wildlife in this area), without having to pay a fee to do that. INSANE. All of us in this part of the country pay fees to use public lands. Whether it is to hunt/fish/camp on them.... cut down the annual christmas tree on them, etc. We expect that. We have no problem with that. The fee's help pay for the cost of MANAGING those lands and the wildlife so that the cycle of life on these lands CONTINUES for us and future generations to enjoy. That isn't rocket science. But these loony tune Bundys want to see all these public lands turned into PRIVATE lands. Mostly turned over to rancher/mining/timber interests who would immediately post those lands NO TRESSPASSING and make them no longer available for public enjoyment. Preserving what is left of the "wild" in this country for future generations to enjoy SHOULD be incredibly high on ANYONES list of worthwhile objectives. I can't even fathom that anyone would feel otherwise. To bring guns and by armed force threaten all of that, is a criminal act. It would be like me taking over your house by armed force for a month and then threatening to kill you if you moved against me to try and take it back. And then to have the gall to say, "OK I will give up if you drop all charges against me". Also INSANE. There is NOTHING hard to understand about that, except to people who are anti-government types who have personal self agendas that are not in the interest of the people as a whole. That is what is going on here. Nothing more or less.

"BURNS -- While the surrender of the four holdouts at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge brings relief to embattled Harney County, it's just the first step in the right direction, locals said Thursday.

"'There is no going back to normal for Harney County as long as the militia is here having rallies and recruitments,' said Joan Davies, the administrator of Hines, a town near Burns.

"Members of a coalition of groups that regularly protest perceived government overreach have indicated they will continue to focus on the county..."

Do you think it's over?

"While the occupation's end may signal a newfound peace for Harney County, a commissioner from neighboring Grant County worries it could mean trouble for his.

"Protest sympathizers might start looking for other federal lands to occupy, said Steve Myers said, and Grant County is close enough to Harney County that it could be a option.

"Grant County Sheriff Glenn Palmer has expressed support for the now-jailed occupiers of the Malheur refuge and has said he didn't know about an operation to arrest its leaders. When Grant County commissioners were considering a resolution this week to support an end to the occupation, multiple residents said they were afraid the movement could spread there."
