The EpiPen saga: Democrat CEO ripping off people in dire need...

The EpiPen saga: Democrat executive ripping off people in need...

So, Heather is a big time Obama supporter and certainly a great friend to Hillary...along with being a donor to *gasp* the Clinton (slushfund) Foundation

Lib's pulling a big ol $$$ ripoff on people in need? surprise...surprise eh?

The Senator’s Daughter Who Raised Prices on Anti-Allergy EpiPen

Members of Congress are in an unusual position as they demand an explanation for Mylan NV’s 400 percent price hike for the EpiPen and focus attention squarely on its CEO: Heather Bresch.

If lawmakers follow the usual script, Bresch could get called up to Capitol Hill next month to explain her company’s justification for raising the price on the life-saving allergy shot. But that could be awkward, since she’s the daughter of Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

While Bresch’s family ties may mute the ire of some lawmakers, others are already asking the company about taxpayers having to foot the bill for these price increases -- particularly after Bresch and the company successfully pushed legislation to encourage use of the EpiPen in schools nationwide.

Mylan is the latest drugmaker to provoke congressional ire for steep price hikes. Martin Shkreli and executives from the company he used to lead, Turing Pharmaceuticals AG, and executives from Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. were called before congressional committees earlier this year to explain why they bought the rights to older drugs that lacked competition and raised the prices.

Mainstream Drug

The Mylan controversy fits a similar pattern. Mylan has increased the price of its EpiPen from about $57 a shot when it took over sales of the product in 2007 to more than $600 for two auto-injectors. But the company’s EpiPen is a more mainstream drug used to treat life-threatening allergic reactions from bee stings, food allergies or other triggers, which could give the issue a larger constituency.

Mylan declined to comment when asked to explain the price hike or Bresch’s role in promoting legislation. Manchin’s office also didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Members in both chambers expressed outrage this week.

In all seriousness - this is a huge problem for many families, not to mention the cost of the taxpayer. How many kids who need to carry these things are on medicaid or an subsidized Obamacare plan.

Anyhoo... they got a big boost when their primary competitor had to recall their product a year or so ago.. and now they have name recognition like Kleenex to Tissues... There are thankfully people trying to come up with an alternate product, but.. imagine this.. they are getting stalled by the FDA.. whodda thunk it, eh?

She's a club member. She'll get her price increase.

Oh and by the way, why do you hate women? ;)

This is the part when Democrats jump in and tell you how wonderful the "free market" is...

Or, they will remain silent in shame. Let's wait and see what happens.

There is also a federal mandate that every school have at least one.

Meanwhile, libs ignore that this was a Dem Senator's daughter, friend of Bill and Hill, mega-donor, and recipient of a nearly 700% salary increase, to almost $20 million a year.

And they called it the PP/ACA.

Dems ALWAYS lie.

Well, don't forget the massive lobbying Big Pharma does with regards to vaccine and school requirements.

I am all for vaccinating for diseases readily transmitted through casual contact, and making vaccinating against those diseases a requirement for public school attendance. Whenever you get children in close contact you will spread disease. But, now they are heavily marketing Guaradasil and trying to make that mandatory for school attendance.

Now, tell me why, a disease spread by sexual contact.. needs to be required to simply attend school and sit next to other children? Well, it doesn't of course. There is no way to get it from casual contact. It prevents the HPV virus, which is sexually transmitted and can lead to some cervical cancer and some other forms of cancer. But, Big Pharma wants it a requirement to attend school - even though it can not possibly be spread through normal causal contact. But, they want to make their money off of it. And, Democrats will fall in line behind it because - well.. its for your own good....

You apparently don't know how much casual sex goes on at and after school.

I do unfortunately. Many of my friends have teenagers. But, I don't support requiring a vaccination - becuase of behaviors of choice. You can require one for casually spreading a disease simply by sharing space. But, when you actually have to do something to get it, I draw the line of making it a requirement for school attendance.

"West Virginia Democrat’s daughter, Heather Bresch, is chief executive of the company, which appears to have hiked the price of the epinephrine auto-injector by 400 percent since 2007. The device, which is used to treat severe allergic reactions, now costs more than $600 per dose."

As a reward, her salary grew almost 700%, to nearly $20 MILLION.

I wonder how may other Democratic Party Congress members had family that made out like Heather Bresch?

If I had a daughter in public school she would have the vaccine and Norplant just because of the chance of sexual assault.

If I thought my daughter was in that much danger of random sexual assault, I would homeschool her.
I didn't have daughters; I would not have sent daughters to the schools my boys attended either.

This seems so odd. I recall leftists posting numerous tirades about another CEO who raised the price of a life-saving drug exponentially higher.

I specifically remember @NinaS ranting about it. Why is she and the other people so concerned about health care costs suddenly silent?????

Watching NBC cover this story this morning was hysterical.

They never once mentioned the party affiliation of her father. Had her father been a Republican, they would have seen how many times they could mention REPUBLICAN FATHER in the story.

No bias there.....no bias at all.........o_O
