Answering one supports or sorta supports ISIS =/= being ready to kill. We have avowed Nazis on this board. Being Nazi supporters does not mean they are out to kill Jews. We should vet refugees for their deeds and associations. McCarthyism was a bad time in the US; I would not see it repeated. So out of 100 "refugees", we know 4 will be ISIS supporters. 9 will be open to becoming ISIS supporters. 10 have a much smaller chance of becoming ISIS supporters.
Wow, that sounds like a group of people I definitely want to bring more of! So let's bring 100,000 and have 4,000 people openly supportive of ISIS.
Wonderful idea!
The more honorable path is to stick to our American values of being a beacon to the hopeless and standing by innocents until they are proven guilty. Or we could succumb to fear, put aside our values in search of an unattainable assurance of safety, and admit the terrorists have won. To do such is cowardly and I'd like to think my fellow citizens are not too cowardly to stand in support of our American ideals. Daily on this site I am presented with evidence that too many of my fellow citizens would abandon every American ideal for a sense of imagined safety. They think stating they will protect their family with firearms makes them brave. That's not bravery. Staying true to American ideals in the face of those seeking to undermine them and to mold us into a fearful people willing to slaughter or turn away those in extreme need is brave.
