So out of 100 "refugees", we know 4 will be ISIS supporters. 9 will be open to becoming ISIS supporters. 10 have a much smaller chance of becoming ISIS supporters.

Wow, that sounds like a group of people I definitely want to bring more of! So let's bring 100,000 and have 4,000 people openly supportive of ISIS.

Wonderful idea!
Answering one supports or sorta supports ISIS =/= being ready to kill. We have avowed Nazis on this board. Being Nazi supporters does not mean they are out to kill Jews. We should vet refugees for their deeds and associations. McCarthyism was a bad time in the US; I would not see it repeated.

The more honorable path is to stick to our American values of being a beacon to the hopeless and standing by innocents until they are proven guilty. Or we could succumb to fear, put aside our values in search of an unattainable assurance of safety, and admit the terrorists have won. To do such is cowardly and I'd like to think my fellow citizens are not too cowardly to stand in support of our American ideals. Daily on this site I am presented with evidence that too many of my fellow citizens would abandon every American ideal for a sense of imagined safety. They think stating they will protect their family with firearms makes them brave. That's not bravery. Staying true to American ideals in the face of those seeking to undermine them and to mold us into a fearful people willing to slaughter or turn away those in extreme need is brave.

I think there's a big difference to address. We have Nazis on this board. They are here in the US. The other group is in a foreign country. There is no right to migrate to the US. Even that aside and just being pragmatic, it makes more sense for countries in the Middle East, countries rich in oil and assets, to take in their fellow Muslims where they will fit in better culturally, politically and religiously.

I think there's a pretty distinct line between being fearful and being rational.

It's certainly not a question of having the right to immigrate to this country. It's a question for us of what is the right thing to do.

There is a difference between being fearful and rational. Islamophobia is irrational. It also helps with anti west sentiment. There is no upside to Islamophobia. People will die at the hands of Islamists. People will die at the hands of non Islamists. Far more people will die of disease, hunger, old age, and auto accidents.

The problem with the discussion is the malicious laziness by the left here. Questioning overall Islamic values (there aren't any, the religion is now relativistic with no authority), and whether they are compatible with Western values is an intellectual, rational exercise. Doing such causes leftists to cry "Islamophobia", when no "phobia" exists.

Trump has never had a problem with properly vetted Islamists. It's just that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Islam, as far as violence, horror, and terrorism is squeaking louder than anything else in the world right now, and it's not even close.

With all that being said, you can also be really really dumb to see a large group of people (ISIS) who want to kill you, and you not fearing it in the name of some universal, tolerant ideology. You're free to do your own personal risks, but trying to bully federal law into imposing your risk isn't exactly honorable.

Yet, we know the names of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, etc. so well.

If "people will just die".. why does the left freak about certain things?

You start your post stating there are no overall Islamic values. Are you speaking of the religion of Islam? What do you really know of it? What non relativistic Christian authority is there for Christianity? Or do you deny the millions of Christians who do not subscribe to the authority of the Pope?

Islamophobia does exist, as is seen by those terrified of all Muslims no matter their adherence to Sunni or Shia, or any other flavor.

People will die. Fact. Not many in the US will die at the hands of Muslim terrorists. So the out sized fear of all Muslims is cowardice. How I am bullying Federal law will be amusing to read. Do tell.

Really? How many went to jail?

Yes. That horrific crime was not legal. We don't have state sanctioned violence against gays and we should no more blame all Muslims for that crime than we should blame all members of any group for crime committed by one of their members.

if only you applied that same standard to gun owners...

I don't defend criminals. I do stand behind innocents standing accused because they share the same religion, skin color, country of ancestry, or whatever other grouping people come up with to lump in innocent people with criminals. Innocent until proven guilty is an American value. We should not let fear strip that value from us.
