No US President has spoken to or acknowledged the "President of Taiwan" in the last 40 yrs.
that crazy woman Kellyanne Conway insisted to Anderson Cooper that Obama did the same thing. she was told she was full of shit.

Conway also said late in the campaign that Trump had been "exceedingly gracious" to Hillary Clinton. Conway is as effed up as Trump.

Was Obama negotiating personal business deals?
LMAO....just too funny and it can't be helped....PJ clowns not only twisting a congratulatory 10 minutes phone call into some hooey about the Trump family business even as the investigation continues into the Clinton family business whereby millions of millions poured in from foreign governments!

Unbelievable....well, not really....standard practice.

The "standard practice" is for a con to misunderstand the situation and simply blame "PJ clowns"...

Yeah and if some other world leader would have said in 1870. I just spoke to the president of the Confederacy, that sure would have gone over well with the US govt., you think ?

The policy was set in 1979 and it was an illegal act for us to go back on our alliance with Taiwan. Who do you think buys more American goods? China or Taiwan?
Obama has sold Taiwan BILLIONS in weapons of war. And Trump is forbidden from speaking to them?

Pure insanity. These sore losers are becoming more unhinged every day.

And no US president has spoken to them still. So what? Seriously.... so what? What has that non-policy done for us? So what?

Guess you didn't notice my post dealt solely with clown Spamature's post insinuating a financial conflict of interest huh? You included a link to the same Guardian article?

But then along came clowns Bobby T and Julie, and now you jump out of the Volkswagen waving an article from the New York Times, that by answering a f'kn phone call, Donald Trump implied his recognition of the woman as a leader of a foreign state! And OMG...he even tweeted he'd talked to her.

Mr. Trump’s transition team, by categorizing his call with Ms. Tsai of Taiwan alongside calls with other heads of state, implied that Mr. Trump recognized her as the leader of a sovereign state. Mr. Trump [a private citizen by the way] also wrote on Twitter that he had spoken to the “President of Taiwan.”

Recognizing Ms. Tsai as a sovereign leader would communicate that the United States considered Taiwan an independent nation.
Yet the Times itself, explicitly says in the first paragraph....

When President-elect Donald J. Trump spoke on the phone with Taiwan’s president on Friday....

Not only do they also say she's the President of Taiwan, they show a picture of her described as..
President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan, center, speaking with President-elect Donald J. Trump from her office in Taipei on Friday.

What say you citizen Craig, is she the President of Taiwan or not?

And do I simply blame PJ clowns for what goes on in PJ? Damn right I do. Who else is there to blame? Now get back in the Volkswagen.

Yes...she is President of The Republic of China. So what? What does her position have to do with the diplomacy regarding the two Chinas that has been followed since 1969?

Has Trump sent an envoy to investigate a hotel in Taiwan, or not?

Has the US been in this strange "cold" war over Taiwan since 1969, or not?

You no doubt support restoring relations with Cuba and their communists. You're whining about Trump receiving a phone call from a democratically-elected leader of a Republic because it might piss off the communists.

You're a communist- or at least a communist sympathizer. What other conclusion can one come to?

One can come to the conclusion that protocol in such matters may have some importance.

Please...China...is not "the communists".

Please....please...for God's sake please...try to speak about the facts...

OK, let's stick with the facts and start with some basics. There is no rule and no reason Donald Trump should have refused a phone call from the president of Taiwan. If we're close enough to them to sell them billions of dollars in weapons for decades, why should Trump refuse to speak to their leader?
