Good question. It would be awhile, probably, because admitting one is wrong invites a thousand "I told you so" responses. Especially here. On one's own, it would be difficult to defend Donald's horrible first 100 days (and a lot of other failures, like Yemen). But with the rightwing propaganda machine, they are provided with excuse after excuse; it's more comforting to believe the propaganda than to confront the truth.

If I saw actual excuses for it that would be one thing. The main reason they use in place of an excuse is basically, I simply refuse to believe it is happening.

Really it would depend on what the pres was doing, exactly. The closest I can come to having to do that was with Bush II. I didn't vote for him, but was willing to support his moves after 9/11, for the good of the country. But when he decided to go after Iraq, using different excuse after different excuse ("chemical weapons!" then 'look how they treat their women!" etc.) I lost any shred of respect and didn't believe a word he said after that. Except, tho, that he didn't demonize all Muslims - I give him props for that.
Since I'm still gobsmacked that there's a human in this country who would have voted for Donald, or who wants him even now, I simply can't imagine how he ever did or continues to have fans (and they're fans, not supporters) except those who are riding his coattails to line their own pockets with the crumbs he leaves behind. (But their fawning over his grifter daughter just cracks me up - amazing what a finishing school can do for folks.)

But lost me when they all seem to come up with the same response when asked for proof that WMD exist. They would always response with how horrific it would be if he used WMD. They never once (except for Rummy's They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south, and north somewhat....) answered that question as asked. But by the time he'd made that statement I was long gone from believing what they said about Iraq.
What gets me is that they all seem to immediately go to his Twitter post as the problem. All they do is expose who he is. His tweets have nothing to do with whether he is doing his job or not, nor whether or not he doing it well. It's really more akin to a family one day just deciding to hide the handicapped child in the attic and pretend they don't exist and hoping nobody notices they're gone.

What sticks out to me is that there has never been someone to compare how bad he is at this. I could see holding on if there had been someone like this who had done as comparably as him at so many things simultaneously .
