Yes, if I notice someone hasn't been around I may search their name to see if it comes up. You can do the same....it's not illegal! You're just jealous that so many of us here are friends, and you have nobody.

Of course we come here to state our opinion, support our side, and explain how wrong the other side is. Nobody should complain about that. But those who accuse posters of doing silly, childish things that they themselves are doing.......... ruin the board by doing that.
That automatic attack and making up stuff about the person they have attacked is the epitome of trolling and it is the main thing wrong with PJ. Most of us here.......you, me, many others.......want it to be a good board.

There's some here that I've responded to in 'other' than politics...it was a civil response talking about the subject. Most times it's a lefty that CAN actually have a civil conversation, if it isn't about politics. But there's one that I've responded to on some different subjects, it was a civil response on the subject, and that person won't respond back. I guess some here hold grudges and can't be adult over anything that's talked about because they have so much hate in them.
Same here there are a few here (more than one but not very many) who can never be civil no matter what. And those are the ones I am calling trolls. Not everyone on the left, but those that are always angry, bitter, and in attack mode.

You're howling at the moon crazy if you think for one minute that I'd want to be friends with those you claim are your friends here. I have REAL friends. I don't have to go online to cultivate more. The ones you have cultivated here are obviously as boring and lonely as you. Maybe you should ask your doctor to take away your "meds". You seem to be hallucinating. Not a good thing to let your grandchildren see. Your use of the word "Jealous" is indicative of someone who has to tell themselves they are worthy of anyone possibly caring about you or your self-importance. You're a joke. You can have your FB and PJ 'so called' friends and I'll keep our friends we have barbeques with, go out with and have a have over for a cup of coffee. At least I can see that they're really who they say they are. They even trust me to be around their family. Imagine that!!!

Well...I know they're REAL friends & who they say they are, I really couldn't care less what you think. When we went to NC to visit our son, all of us took a trip to meet Dawg and his girl. They're as real as you can get. So, you think because people don't live in the same area that they can't be 'real' friends? Ha! They're much closer to me than some of the friends I have in my own town. And far from boring. (By the way, I don't remember asking you to be our friend).

Do you ever consider how many more cons are here than libs? I don't respond to every lib post either...and if I did, does that make them my FRIEND? It's not just this forum it's the whole political arena. Liberals lost and refuse to accept their lose and now make threats the GOP doesn't call their hand and demand that they shut up. The whole country is in a tailspin and the days of compromise and getting along are over. Not even in the 60's and 70's was things like they are now.

And you're right, I fear -- the days of compromise and getting along seem to be over. PJ seems kind of like the nation in miniature (our wonderful British members notwithstanding). Must the days of civility be over, too?
Sometimes I think it's Rush Limbaugh's fault. He transformed AM radio, and it was just as the internet was taking off into widespread use when he began, wasn't it? A William F. Buckley, he's not. Gave vent to working-class & middle-class baby-boomer fears & frustrations & sensibilities. And it was just as the changes in society where beginning to overwhelm them, as happens with every aging generation (technological, sociological, et al -- just as "cool" was transitioning to "I can't figure out how to work this damn thing" and "These kids today!"). Right-wingers among them took it as permission to harden their stances and fight the decades-long arc of the county's leftward swing, leftists circled the wagons, and here we are. The internet stoking the fire.
SW is correct that most people are rooting for America, but I don't feel it's only the 2% on each end of the spectrum that sees those who disagree with them as "the enemy" anymore. The number has grown, positions have hardened, and here we are. On PJ, acting it out in our dysfunctional little family.

I'm in PJ very rarely anymore, but anytime I do come in, all I see are the same old hysterical flame wars, sniping and general kindergarten nonsense from the usual suspect(s).
Some are simply incapable of posting like sane, mature, civil adults. *shrug* So, why bother spending time in here?
I can't imagine what any new posters, or anyone perusing the board...considering joining...must think when they see how so many posts devolve into a slap match, like 5 year olds indulge in....
The Admin and Mods don't have an easy job, at all.

I looked through some old posts by gorden gecko...bo4...and a bunch of other forgotten names. IMO they are all still here....just using different monikers.
If you notice every now and then a new moniker pops up that has a hauntingly familiar posting style. LOL..
Seriously though it's not just here all the posting boards are way down from their original traffic.

I have no desire to post with more than one moniker, but it was done a lot back in the Slate days.
A troll by one name is always a troll by any other name.
One of the Slate moderators once said that we would be surprised at just how few actual posters there really were. I think that's true now and here too.

Jen...yes, Kevin said there were only maybe a dozen (max) "real" posters, and a bunch of sock puppets. Heck, I'm too busy to deal with more than one...can't imagine how others have so much free time on their hands, that they're able to deal with multiple "personalities".
