I'd assume the reasoning varies a bit from person to person. Kaepernick's original protest was pretty broadly linked to what he viewed as the oppression of black people and people of color -- specifically, unaccountable police violence against minorities ("There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”) Others I think are probably kneeling as a sign of solidarity with the protesters, especially in the face of Donald Trump's attempt to pressure employers to fire employees who exercise their first amendment rights that way.

This entire kneeling protest has a humongous blind spot in it...

Until they start addressing the black on black crime rate all they do is come across as a bunch of disgruntled millionaires who made it to the top of their sports and are now telling people why the country sucks.

Meanwhile, an African American male has little chance of being killed by the police, his chances of being killed by someone in his community are astronomically higher in far too many predominantly African American communities across the country.....

Until they start taking that on.....................it's all just pointless noise.

The NFL and political left has decided on a new explanation for falling ratings:

"cord cutting" - that is, customers who no longer watch cable, but watch over the internet.

this would almost make sense - if stadium attendance wasn't also falling on a par with ratings.

try again, boys and girls.

You don't get to dictate what people choose to protest.

That's not at all how they come across to me. And I'm not clear why you think they need to address one issue in order to address the other. The nature of political activism is to call attention to a specific issue -- generally, it's considered a bad idea to dilute your message with other messages. For example, a conservative can push for corporate tax breaks without also pushing for a cure for blindness.

What do you think is behind the fall in ratings? Keep in mind, it's not just the NFL -- it's every major sport in this country. What is causing everything from the Olympics to professional boxing to NASCAR to struggle in recent years?

... what are the NFL players kneeling for?

Imho, their kneeling as a form of protest misses the root cause of their country's Big Mistake:

"Trump’s Policy Is Clear: Civilian Casualties Don’t Matter in the War on Terror
Multiple air strikes on cities and the use of white phosphorus—a probable war crime—guarantee a growing death toll.
By Phyllis Bennis"

"Abdulrahman Mohammed looks at the ruins of a house in western Mosul on May 26, 2017, destroyed in a March 17 coalition airstrike that killed more than 100 people. "

Civilian casualties haven't 'mattered' since 2001.

Isn't that a bit like saying there is no point in discussing background checks to buy guns as long as so many kids die in swimming pools?
