California shooter: Out on bail 9 months awaiting trial on murder charges

But you said as long as you haven't killed anyone...to leave you alone...Right?

You are avoiding the point. If you are preparing to hurt someone should people still ignore you until you've actually done it?
Preparing how? What exactly is that person doing that would lead a reasonable person to believe he is about to hurt someone?

An ex-felon with a warrant for his arrest for an attempted murder going to a gun store with someone to buy a gun from them seems reasonable to me to assume the guy is about to commit another gun crime.

That's simply untrue. If you read this thread in full, you'll find I fully tolerate existing gun laws -- I merely think we need no more. I shouldn't have to drive out of my way and pay $20 to sell my brother a gun.
The Colorado law allows for the transfer of a gun to a family member....Sibling, spouse or child.

Do you understand why society has an interest in keeping ex-felons from buying guns?
Actually no, because if they're considered dangerous, then why are they walking around free? And if society believes they're okay to be let roam around free, then who cares if they're armed?

without a background check,
Well I quit working at the gun shop when I joined the Army in '93, and the BC law didn't go into effect until '98, so I guess several dozen at least. Of my own, about 2 or 3.
And guess what? The world didn't come to an end, did it?

You do realize that the overwhelming majority of firearms in the US today, were sold and then re-sold, or sold and then gifted, or handed down, or whatever, without any kind of BC, don't you? There have been a lot of guns made and sold in the US since '98, but guns have been around for quite a bit longer than that you know..... and a quite a few of those sold since '98 have subsequently changed owners without a BC as well. Has the world come to an end as a result? No, and in fact, crime has been steadily declining (at least reported crime has).
Literally hundreds of millions of guns are in this country and have been for decades, if not over a century, and nobody has committed a single crime with them.

So why all the attempts to restrict them? It can't be about crime, because logically, they are not a problem, so what's the true motivation?

Examples of this happening, please.

Exactly. Hence the need for comprehensive restrictions applicable to all, without regard to those who squawk "Don't hassle me with any restrictions! I'm a law abiding gun owner!"
Would you do the same for murder. The logic you're using indicates anyone could be a potential murderer, so we must all be searched any time we're in public to make certain we're not carrying a weapon, poison or other lethal product to ensure that we don't commit a murder. I'm a law abiding citizen -- under the 4th Amendment I'm supposed to be free from such searches. I'm a law abiding citizen -- under the 2nd Amendment I'm supposed to be free to own arms without much restriction (restrictions aren't mentioned in the amendment).

Sure you have. You just dismiss it. You value guns more than human lives.
No, I've seen no evidence that carnage would be prevented. I already, in fact, provided multiple examples of the background check being used, and failing to prevent one iota of carnage.
