No, I would say affirmative action limits the extent to which this is done. You like to pretend that when whites and males start out with big advantages and then come out ahead of others without those advantages in competition it is proof of greater merit, but it's very dishonest to do so.
White males don't start out with 'big advantages'.

"Junior senator" =outsider (relatively speaking). He won because McCain smelled of the Bush swamp.

If Clinton had been a man, it would've been harder for the right-wing noise machine to convince people that she was "crooked" when decades of investigations turned up nothing that wasn't applauded by American capitalists.
So you're saying a man would have campaigned better than Clinton? One did. Trump.

Of course we do. We don't face discrimination at any step of the way. Women and POC face discrimination at every step.
Please, seriously, don't lump women in with your nonsense. Its an insult to those of us who refuse to buy into your fake victimhoodology.

I've shown you concrete examples in this thread of how women are held back. And you agreed that this is the case, you just (absurdly) denied the social compulsion and claimed that it was "by choice" that the playing field was unlevel.

And I have told you time and time again, that is all in their heads. They are not "held back". They make conscious choices and as a result of those choices, get the rewards or feel the consequences. There is not a way, man or woman - to live your life where making one choice, does not close off other avenues to you. I have absolutely no respect at all for any woman who beieves that leftist victimhood shit and denies both the responsibility for her choices as well as the fact that she had an opportunity to make other ones. I simply have no respect for such a dishonest, weak willed person. They do not embody at all the strength and determination that I believe we should all embrace as women.

You talk about individual choices but what about the social institutions that are set up in such a way as to give more freedom to some (men) than to others (women)? If a society makes the choice to set its institutions up in a certain way, isn't it responsible for the effects?

There is no such thing as "social institutions set up in such a way to give more freedom to some than to others" That is just a lie that losers pimp to other losers to make them think they aren't losers.

So it doesn't matter in the least if a country is run like the U.S., Nazi Germany, or Communist Cuba? If you believe that, why do you post on a politics forum?

Your reply doesn't make any sense. First of all we are talking about a situation in the US with US laws. so you babbling about another country has no bearing.

Furthermore you are talking about social pressures. That is not the same at all as actual legal restrictions. Pretty lame attempt at a straw man, all the way around.

The U.S. doesn't have legal restrictions to back up the primacy of social structures preferred by the ruling class?

The Constitution bans secession when it says that the Constitution is the Supreme law of the land, and any state ordinance (such as a secession ordinance) contradicting that is void,
You're saying a secession ordinance contradicts the idea of the constitution being the supreme law of the land?? I don't see that at all. If there was a clause in the constitution that banned secession i could see it, but there is no such clause.

He wasn't set on abolition in 1860. Like most northerners, the war turned him into an abolitionist.
Lincoln was never an abolitionist. Like most northerners he despised the abolitionists. He disapproved of slavery but did not believe blacks were equal to whites and wanted blacks to go back to africa.

No. It has laws to protect property and create stability. But they do not prevent anyone from participating in those behaviors.
