Thank you! This rewriting of socialist history has been going on at least since I was a kid.
Well, keep trying ... seems you're getting away with it more and more the more the capitalists embrace fascism today.
Ever since Hitler sucked on a gun barrel socialists have been trying to distance themselves from him--to wipe the stink off themselves.
Socialists were against Hitler long before his death ... even before he rose to power. "First they came for the Socialists," in the words of survivor Martin Niemoller's well-known poem. The Social Democratic Party was the only party to vote against giving Hitler emergency powers, the Communist Party having previously become the only party excluded from the Reichstag shortly after Hitler took power. All this after fighting the Nazis in the streets. The Nazis on the other hand ruled in coalition with the German National People's Party, a conservative nationalist party. The Nazis locked up and killed millions of Socialists, and threw their war machine into an attack aimed solely at stamping out Soviet socialism, which put an end to Hitler's reign.
It takes constant vigilance and determination to always always always set them straight and remind them. . .Hitler was a socialist!
Oh yes he was.
Oh yes he was.
The socialists are forever caught between trying to be all things to all people (while exterminating "the other"--happens everywhere, from Germany to the Soviet Union, to Cambodia) and somehow severing ties with the Nazis. To cut the Nazis from socialism requires a razor. But even then, how do they separate them from the socialist fold?
Avowed right-wingers, supported by big business, aggressively privatized the economy, systematically persecuted Socialists, anti-union.
Anti-semitism? Genocide? The Soviets had their own Holodomor.
Stalin's reactionary regime, which came to power over socialist opposition with capitalist support, fostered the growth of the right, then found itself threatened by the right and adopted insane murderous policies to defeat it.
Pol Pot killed his entire opposition.
A capitalist regime, driven from power by socialist Vietnam, modeled in part on Nazi Germany.
Our own socialists in the US (Teddy Roosevelt) sterilized 60,000 people in the name of eugenics. We have our own history of concentration camps and even today attempts to corral "the other" that are alive and well!
The U.S. has always been a capitalist country and Roosevelt was a liberal capitalist leader.
Capitalism? Please! The Nazis were absolutely nuts about government control of business and that ain't capitalism!
It's capitalism any time the business interests who can control the government think they'll make higher profits with vertical integration of the economy via state planning ... examples include S. Korea under Park, Singapore, Peronist Argentina, Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, the U.S during the New Deal, and the list goes on.
Communism and Fascism are nothing more than two peas in a socialist pod.
A capitalist pod, you mean? Communism and fascism are the seeds of the possible futures capitalism is preparing for us. One is healthy and the other deadly poisonous.
I am confident that the truth will come out on a macro scale once individuals question everything they've been taught by teachers and readdress everything they thought they knew on the subject of socialism. Read the quotes from the leaders (as you have quoted above). Read the socialist constitutions. Read the original texts!
Obviously you have not done so if you think the truth is on your side.
The only reason people anywhere believe Nazis were not socialists is pure ignorance and gullibility.
In what way did the Nazis advance the interest of the indivisible international working class?
