You spout crap about the economy as if all was doing so well in December of 2008. You pretend that Trump is doing so great, as if he was taking over with 10% unemployment and had brought it down to 4.5% (which Obama did)....instead of admitting Trump has only reduced unemployment by about .7%. You ignore that Trump has now driven the deficit up to $1 trillion per year.

The Unite the Right guys started the violence in Charlottesville. I've linked to video of the night before at the Jefferson statue....a dozen counter protesters were surrounded by hundreds of Nazis/kkk types and the right wingers started the fights.
There has been more than one incident in Portland. One was a right winger who harassed some Muslim women on a street car and stabbed two guys who came to their defense.

Take a look at facebook (the FANG's in general). Because of a lie about the weight of influence in an election by Russia via facebook, the company is being subjected to regulation and possible anti-trust action. Because it and others are being subjected to future regulation, their market drop, and their size they are disrupting the economic outlook and YOUR retirement prospects.
Who to blame? Democrats.
And that is just one economic card in the house of cards being brought down by this last election.

I actually prefer to have political diversity and bickering in congress. Forget the president - a Congress that is forced to fight for what it wants, is a more efficient entity.
When your budgets must pass the scrutiny of your enemies, no way are you getting pork belly deals for your buddies; IT WON'T HAPPEN. Who wins? The tax payer.

If you cut taxes WITHOUT cutting spending, you're basically taking out a high interest loan from China.
Part of the problem with Congress in 2009 was that the republicans set a record for filibusters and legislative delay. They weren't interested in letting anything go through if Obama could claim a victory....even if it was good for the country. The repubs in the senate even killed repub bills from the house....like the 911 first responder's health care bill.
They allowed the ACA to go through, but didn't vote for it. They did get compromises from Obama and the Dems and then used their own additions to the bill to criticize Obama. All in the plan to make Obama a one term president.
Our elected representatives do not operate as you suggest. I think there is more pork, not less. The deals they make are basically to buy each other's pork in return for votes.
I think part of the problem is that we cannot get them to vote for reasonable legislation on what is allowed in a spending bill. No, you cannot fund a Railroad museum in your district in return for voting for military spending in my district....Unrelated spending riders go through all the time.
We get a useful rule through that limits new spending to funding and then they vote to override it.
Don't know what the solution is. I wish I did....
Pretty amazing. The Trump tariffs and other economic policies and the rubberstamp GOP Congress,GOPs holding the Senate and the shaky overseas markets have nothing to do with this week's market slide. It's all the fault of elected Dems in the House who haven't even taken office. Most of the cons in this forum ain't worth talking with anymore. Happy Thanksgiving to you.

I used to think like you. But compromise is how we get debt and a whole number of bad policy ideas. I'm more for not compromising for a span of 6 to 8 years and having the results show themselves and then let another different political trend take hold if that uncompromising path proves needing correction.
Simply the opposite is true. They then both agree to spend is what happens and two spenders equals big credit card bills.

I disagree about the cons on this site. For the most part, they are good guys and I enjoy the banter. Sometimes posters here are hard to tell day to day by the issues they post. An awesome smattering of political ideology.
I posted a lot at another board, but took exception to how the cons on that site were treated. I was more conservative there and often was treated as one of the cons.
I posted at yet another site where a TRINITY of female right-wing Admins ran off all the libs and the behavior of the conservatives on that site was reprehensible. I took great delight in kicking their asses in the mosh-pit (flame zone), but when the admins have to step in, it's hardly a mosh-pit.
