OK, so here’s the compromise to end Trump’s wall madness/shutdown

Bugsy McGurk

President
The parties agree to the number to be spent on extra border security - let’s say $5.7 billion for sake of argument. That’s Trump’s number.

Then the question is how to best spend that money to achieve border security. A panel of experts is formed to decide the question - which border security measures provide the most cost effective solutions. The best “bang for the buck.” If Trump convinces the panel that an idiotic wall in the middle of nowhere is the best solution, then so be it. The wall gets built.

I'm not.

Here's a better compromise. The house votes on the bill that the Senate passed unanimously last year. Trump either signs it, vetoes it or does nothing. If he vetos it the house and senate override the veto. It becomes law one way or another.

The House can’t vote on the bill the Senate passed late last year - that bill died with the last Congress.

The new Dem House did pass a bill just like the bill the Senate last in December, but McConnell refuses to allow a vote on that bill, even though he supported a nearly identical bill in December. Unless McConnell decides to put the interests of the nation over Trump, there will be no Senate votes on such bills.

That’s why I propose my compromise - no honest panel of border experts would waste much money on Trump’s idiotic wall in the middle of nowhere.

Easy enough to cut and paste the bill the Senate passed, stick a new ID number on it, pass it and send it on. That's it. That's the compromise. Same thing as the republicans senate passed last year. It's up to McConnell to put it on the floor or keep the government shut.

We should not negotiate with terrorists. The GOP caused this mess. They should not be rewarded. I say that's as far as the country should go. Pass the senate bill or an equivalent.

No further compromise. So far Nancy Pelosi has been doing a good job. She has far more balls than Sh1thead Schumer who would have bent over for Trump already.

This won't be resolved until both sides have something they can use to bludgeon the other with.

My guess is The Wall for DACA.............

Build the wall. Trump should keep his promises.

If You wanna suggest he do something different that is fair...Offering a solution is fine, but don't be upset that he wants to keep his promise.

The bill needs wall funding.

Just pass a bill provide the funding. Simple as that. Well almost, but if you quit needing illegals to vote that will go along way.

The Dem House already did that, and McConnell refuses to allow a vote on the bill.

So here we are. My compromise would allow Trump to claim he got something even though he would get squat.

Trump’s chance to keep his promise was when the GOP controlled Congress for two years. He didn’t. That ship has sailed.

I like your compromise, but why/how does Trum get "squat"?

It’s hard to believe that border security experts would conclude that a wall in the middle of nowhere gets us the most bang for the buck. But if they did, so be it.
I don't think anyone on politicaljack has any idea what the border experts would say.
