No. Your competitors are obligating themselves to hundreds of thousands of dollars of student loans for useless Lesbian Dance Theory degrees that make them unemployable. The point of going to college is become yourself more competitive in the job market. Arbitrarily setting college at 3 years is making students less competitive in the job market. In reality students across the globe are becoming more educated, not less.

Students don't get to decide what makes them more competitive on the job market. Telling students that is just telling things they want to hear. It isn't true. Employers decided what makes students competitive on the job market.

Basketweaving isn't a requirement. An Arts credit generally is. And there is plenty of academic value in an arts program. And employers see the value in students who have taken an arts class and passed that along to educators.

Students are free to take whatever classes they want to. Universities issue degrees based on fulfilling their requirements. Requirements for degrees are largely based on what universities prepare their students for the workforce.
