NOT COUNTING CALIFORNIA THEN TRUMP WON WITH OVER A MILLION VOTES

Seems to me to make the case for the electoral college for a collection of states who have voluntarily come together to form a larger federated nation.

So

Hillary total - California = 57,099,726
65,853,514 - 8,753,788

Trump total - California = 58,501,018
62,984,828 - 4,483,810

For a difference of 1,401,292 in favor of Trump in the POPULAR vote

Never mind all the illegal voting going on in California.

Fine. Now add up all the flyover deep red states that Trump won until you get to the population of California and subtract their votes from his total. Then see who wins.

We could just flip a coin to see who becomes President.............makes as much sense as your dumbass scenario.

Here's the very best reason I can think of in support of the EC.

Do some math using the election results of just 2 cities. New York City and the county of Los Angeles.

Here is the breakdown of the vote totals in just the 5 boroughs of New York City ...

Brooklyn...........Clinton - 595,086 Trump - 133,653
Bronx.................Clinton - 318,403 Trump - 34,424
Manhattan.......Clinton - 515,481 Trump - 58,935
Queens..............Clinton - 473,389 Trump - 138,550
Staten Island....Clinton - 67,561 Trump - 95,612

Totals.................Clinton - 1,969,920 Trump - 461,164

CLINTON WINS NEW YORK CITY by 1,508,756 votes

Here is the breakdown of the vote totals in Los Angeles County

Clinton - 1,654,626 Trump - 542,591

CLINTON WINS LOS ANGELES COUNTY by 1,112,035 votes

COMBINED Clinton wins just 2 cities in ENTIRE COUNTRY by
2,620,791 votes. Take away just 2 cities and the popular vote is a toss up.

That means two cities would basically determine every election.

Interesting stats.

The people who knew Trump best - Manhattanites - voted for Hillary by nearly a 10-1 margin. He couldn’t dupe savvy New Yorkers but, boy, did Red state tubes fall for his flim-flam.

Yep, the smart, educated people on the coasts voted heavily for Hillary.

NY and LA county together are about 19 million people. I bet I can cherry pick 19 million voters from Trump's total and turn his victory around.

So, we should let a single state decide who is President? Should we rotate which state it is each election?

I'm good with that...........:D

To equal Ca. you would have to subtract
ND
SD
MT
UT
NE
WV
KS
IA
AK
MS
OK
AR

From Trump's total.

Now what does your map look like ?

And that just the EC. There are still more you can subtract population wise.

Um, the post I quoted thought Cali should decide the election. If we are going to let a single state decide the election, we should rotate the states.

Please try to keep up with the conversation for once in your sad, pathetic life.

Because more Americans decided to live there than any other state. There are 10 million more people in CA than there are in the next largest state. Why should their votes be discounted while states with fewer people than a lot of cities in CA get 3 EC votes because they get 1 rep and two senate votes.
How about you make it 1 senate EC vote for every state. That would be fair.

You don’t believe that an American is an American, no matter where they live, and all votes should be equal?
Every person's vote is equal.

I have no idea WTF your idiotic, moronic, incoherent rant about "an American" not being an American is all about.........and I don't really care. I will just laugh at your dumbassery.

Not on that map you posted they aren't. Those states on that list population wise got 22 more votes than CA. in the EC while having fewer people.
