"Axios on HBO" poll: 55% of women prefer socialism

MrMike

Bless you all
I wonder how many of the folks polled even know what it really is?

"Axios on HBO" poll: 55% of women prefer socialism

A Harris poll for "Axios on HBO" finds that socialism is gaining popularity: 4 in 10 Americans say they would prefer living in a socialist country over a capitalist one.

Why it matters: Socialism is losing its Soviet-era stigma, especially among women. Popular Democratic socialists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are bringing new life and meaning to the term.

  • 55% of women between 18 and 54 would prefer to live in a socialist country than a capitalist country.
  • But a majority of men prefer to live in a capitalist country.
The big picture: "It's been a truth of American politics for decades that women are to the left of men, and I think that's playing out in this poll," Axios' Felix Salmon noted on "Axios on HBO."

Between the lines: As the Harris poll results below show, the public has varying levels of agreement on what exactly constitutes a socialist political system.

  1. Universal healthcare: 76%
  2. Tuition free education: 72%
  3. Living wage: 68%
  4. State-controlled economy: 66%
  5. State control and regulation of private property : 61%
  6. High taxes for the rich: 60%
  7. State-controlled media and communication: 57%
  8. Strong environmental regulations: 56%
  9. High public spending: 55%
  10. Government ’’democratizes’’ private businesses — that is, gives workers control over them — to the greatest extent possible: 52%
  11. System dependent on dictatorship: 49%
  12. Workers own and control their places of employment: 48%
  13. Democratically-elected government: 46%
What's next: "We've seen this pattern of behavior where women are turning out in higher numbers as voters and as candidates than we've ever seen. They're getting elected in higher numbers than before. They're pushing the conversation in different ways," Axios' Alexi McCammond noted on "Axios on HBO."

  • "They're looking for someone, a candidate on either side, who'll support this idea of a socialist country that they want to live in."
Methodology: This survey was conducted online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of Axios from April 16-18, 2019 among 2,024 adults ages 18 and older.

  • This online survey is not based on a probability sample and therefore no estimate of theoretical sampling error can be calculated. Results are weighted for age within gender, region, race/ethnicity, household income, education, and size of household where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population using U.S census data.

Any *edited* idiot can find any poll to say anything.

Apparently someone has found a poll saying 55 percent of women are *edited* idiots.

How about it, women? Do you like the idea that some idiotic poll has made most of you out to be *edited* idiots?

Does it scare you that your political beliefs are losing their popularity?

Apparently someone has found a poll saying 55 percent of women are [Unwelcome language removed] idiots.

How about it, women? Do you like the idea that some idiotic poll has made most of you out to be [Unwelcome language removed] idiots?
Bingo!

Nope. I expect that many polled by Axios (dubious sampling) don't even really know what Socialism is. When they do, they change their minds.
Here's an article I read today on this very subject. You might find it interesting...
https://splinternews.com/nobody-knows-what-socialism-means-1835444941
In case you don't, here's the interesting part...
"Philosophers long ago realized that when we think we are debating ideas, what we are really debating is the meaning of words. The first step towards having a meaningful debate is to agree on what we are talking about. When it comes to “socialism” in America, this first step will never be reached. All of our talking and yelling and solemn speeches and vacuous cable news crosstalk will amount to people arguing over what a blank page says. All parties in this debate will project their own meaning onto the term before they proceed to criticize or defend it. We will all talk past one another. On the right, socialism will—out of ignorance, or fear, or calculated political strategy—be used as a boogeyman, a scare word representing anything you can think of that might upset a Fox News viewer. On the left, socialism will be used as a catch-all term for a broad set of policies representing a more humane state, though the precise contours of that definition will slip and slide from person to person."

Does it scare you that your political beliefs are losing their popularity?
I know it doesn't scare ME.

However, what DOES scare the livin' sh it outta me is the fact that it seems the political beliefs of those of you who truly feel it is the place of our government to confiscate and redistribute all of the monies from "OTHER" folks, that itwill take you with any and everything you may ever need, want or desire, are GAINING in popularity.

I don't know how many non-working, non-contributing, members of society each actual working, contributing member will have to earn enough to provide for.

I don't how long it would be before the contributors all say, "Just the hell with this", quit working/contributing and just waited to be taken care of too.

And I damned sure don't know who among us would be the first to sit on their ass and demand to be provided for and who would at least try at the beginning to work and contribute...…………….BUT.....

I WILL bet you a dollar to a doughnut right fukin' NOW that IF this came to pass I can tell you which line YOU and the majority of dems/libs on here will be in...….

(Hint: It will NOT be that real short one filled with people willing to go to work and bust their asses to bring home whatever amount of money all the non-contributors "feel" is "fair" for you and them.)

Well, must be the 55% that use their 'squeeze-box' to live free off males and lay around the house watching TV and eating chips or grown ass males that still live at home off their parents.

So what's your plan to appeal to voters?
Let them live with the results of their previous voting.

OK, a bit harsh.

How about by showing the places where and the results of the policies and laws what they believe they desire and would vote for, have long been the norm.
Merely present them with examples of what actually is, although, I don't really this would be as effective as letting them live it, showing someone in todays desensitized, "its all about ME", sound bite size intellectuals means almost nothing. They see and do worse on TV and video games before turning them off and going back to bed in mommy's basement.

On the other hand, as a di m, all I would need to do is run as Santa Clause.

"Free" everything, for everyone! All you need do is vote for MW!

So simple even a caveman could do it...….

Unfortunately, also so simple only a caveman could possibly believe it....

Which actually does quite accurately explain todays dems/libs I suppose...

Where you see Valenzuela, the voters see most Universal Health coverage succeeding across the globe.

I don't think bashing them is gonna get their votes but that just my opinion.

To give you people an example of just how *edited* stupid this poll is, let's look at that list, the one that allegedly is called "Socialism."

Universal healthcare: 76%

Socialism? Tell me again about the wonderful health care in Venezuela, the prime example to the world of textbook Socialism.

Tuition free education: 72%
It doesn't exist. Never has and never will. Tuition will always be paid. School will never teach for free.

Living wage: 68%
Tell me again about the wonderful living wages in Venezuela, China, North Korea.

State-controlled economy: 66%
Women want the state dictating to them how to run a beauty parlor? Seriously?

State control and regulation of private property : 61%

That has always existed in every economy. There are regulations on ALL private property, so the person who asked this question obviously thinks women are *edited* stupid.

High taxes for the rich: 60%
We have that now in Capitalist America. We've always had that. The rich have always paid about 90 percent of all taxes. So once again, someone in this survey thinks women are *edited* morons.

State-controlled media and communication: 57%
Really? Would you like FOXNEWS to be the state-controlled media, dictating ALL news and all public opinion? How would that work out?

Strong environmental regulations: 56%
How is that socialist?

High public spending: 55%
Capitalist America is TRILLIONS OF [Unwelcome language removed] DOLLARS IN THE RED. How is that socialist? How is fiscal madness socialism? Businesses occasionally spend more than they take in. How is that socialism?

Government ’’democratizes’’ private businesses — that is, gives workers control over them — to the greatest extent possible: 52%
Workers already have control. If they don't like the way a company works, they can *edited* leave.

System dependent on dictatorship: 49%
Usually happens during Democratic administrations.

Workers own and control their places of employment: 48%
Workers have always had the ability to buy out the company and control it. Workers have also had the ability to move up into a company and assume leadership roles. How is this socialism?

Democratically-elected government: 46%

When WHY THE *EDITED* IS VENEZUELA'S SOCIALIST DICTATOR REFUSING TO ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF THE LAST DEMOCRATIC ELECTION, HUH?

Like I said, someone thinks women are *edited* morons. I'm betting they're not.

So 55% of women in that age group actually believe the lie they are being fed about what Socialism actually is?

If it's true...........it's just sad that women allow themselves to be that stupid.
