Ima say this. He is at least talking about working with or trying to work with the other side. He is being pummeled by some folks on my side of the aisle for even saying that too. He may or may not be the one who can get that process started but nobody else is even talking about it. Most of those who are even talking out loud, are digging the trenches and foxholes deeper and fortifying the earthworks. They're digging in.

there must be some...however few..that still posess a moral compass and core. i dont give a shit what party they are.. right now it's the debased and the mentally infirm leading the charge on all fronts.
no, trump and his minions have debased the political climate, beginning with those who couldn't handle a black president being elected in 2009, and the repubs willing to allow kooky, bigoted losers in from the Teabag Party in order to try and save some political power. the GOP sold its soul to the bigots and geezers and homophobes and sexists and racists and islamophobes just so they could maintain some chance of political power, even if they had to go directly against Abe Lincoln, Ike Eisenhower, even Reagan and Bush, when it came to outright bigotry and racism. Trump took it even further, starting with his fellow candidates. What presidential candidate has run a campaign based on making fun of his opponents? of vicious insults based on internet lies and rumors? of vicious insults about even other republicans who hate his hate-based campaign rhetoric, like John McCain? A loud mouthed, lying candidate who was so not really conservative or not really republican a large number of really conservative, really republican pundits and former senators and governors went out of their way to criticize his pandering to the worst instincts of the repub base, not the best. to divide and conquer, no matter what the cost. to impugn our military-intelligence experts if they disagreed with him on the middle east, or on putin's involvement in election meddling, or with the Saudi prince's torture, and on the FBI if they dared investigate all the blatant collusion between the russians and the trump cohorts.

Name anything any democrat of any renown or following has said that comes close to the level of hate, bigotry and dishonesty of trump in our history....can you imagine bill clinton telling some black republican if she did not agree with his policies she should go back to africa?

He has time on his side...he can remember when outright racism was not a political liability in either party, especially the democrats in the south....Where if you wanted to get anything done, you had to deal with these incredibly bigoted dinosaurs of a totally racist era, and it seems like trump wants to return to that level of bigotry and divisiveness.

Here. That's hate. Right ? Besides, he asked them to leave- and come back and show us how it's done. Do you read or ever listen ?

The political climate in America is worse than it's ever been. There is outright hatred on display. Many seek to hasten the decline to meet the lowest common denominator. Someone, anyone, needs to take a stand and save us from the slobs that have taken over our politics. I don't see anyone on the horizon at this point. Which is sad

How does one reconcile a constantly-intervening, authoritarian, central-planning control freak to those of us who simply want to be left alone and “self-realize”. While many of us merely want to achieve...and to exercise our liberty, others constantly seek greater command and control, reduced individual freedom in favor of collectivized security, and mandates everywhere.

How does one reconcile these things?

Honestly, I am with you on dialing down the vitriol. And that’s an easy one for me, because I am not one to curse or “work blue” online or in person. If it is interpersonal conduct and rhetorical civility, I’m good with it. If it is signing away ever more of our individual liberty and - frankly - personhood...I’m out. No dice.

There is plenty of bad conduct in all camps. Unmeasured, self-serving blowhards abound. Is Trump one such? Of course. One.

What is needed is for the rest of us (read: non-pols) to practice the required humility, decency, and maturity to recognize shortcomings among our own...not merely the other...and then to walk differently ourselves.

There will be no political hero candidate.

Trump calls out the communist, socialist, jew hating 4 and yet, everyone else backs them up just because they hate Trump. You are correct, it is sad.

That's all it takes and it's clear the leftist have forgotten:

They elect those that defend and support those that killed almost 3000!

"You cannot go to a 7-11 or Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian Accent." -Senator Joe Biden

Mahatma Gandhi "ran a gas station down in Saint Louis."
-Senator Hillary Clinton

"Is you their black-haired answer-mammy who be smart? Does they like how you shine their shoes, Condoleezza? Or the way you wash and park the whitey's cars?"
-- Left-wing radio host Neil Rogers

"I think one man is just as good as another so long as he's not a n*gger or a Chinaman. Uncle Will says that the Lord made a White man from dust, a n*gger from mud, then He threw up what was left and it came down a Chinaman. He does hate Chinese and Japs. So do I. It is race prejudice, I guess. But I am strongly of the opinion Negroes ought to be in Africa, Yellow men in Asia and White men in Europe and America."
-Harry Truman (1911) in a letter to his future wife Bess

"You f*cking Jew b@stard." -- Hillary Clinton to political operative Paul Fray. This was revealed in "State of a Union: Inside the Complex Marriage of Bill and Hillary Clinton" and has been verified by Paul Fray and three witnesses.

"I'll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years."
-- Lyndon B. Johnson to two governors on Air Force One according Ronald Kessler's Book, "Inside The White House"

"Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."
-- Former Klansman and current US Senator Robert Byrd, a man who is referred to by many Democrats as the "conscience of the Senate", in a letter written in 1944, after he quit the KKK.

Trump tried.

But those slobs are loud and nasty and they won't go away easily. I doubt they will go away at all. Ever. Not until America is destroyed.
