Six-month-old girl in critical condition after father brings her across border illegally

A six-month-old girl is in critical condition at a Texas hospital after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents apprehended her, her father and 21 other people who illegally crossed the Rio Grande into the United States, officials said Saturday.

A CBP spokesperson said the group was apprehended three miles west of the Roma Port of Entry at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The father and his daughter were taken to the Rio Grande Valley Sector's Central Processing Center in McAllen, where medical staff said the child should be treated at a hospital.

The girl was initially transported to Edinburg Regional Children's Hospital in Edinburg at 9:40 a.m., then was airlifted to Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi. The CBP statement added that the child's father was driven to the hospital by CPB officers because there was no space for him in the medical helicopter.

Acting CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan told "Fox & Friends" Saturday that the case "truly is tragic."

who said trump made anyone risk it all to try and find a better life here than they had, for themselves and their families? that is what all our ancestors did when they left europe or asia or wherever to come here for the same exact reason, putting their families through similar risks to do the same thing. how many kids do you think died crossing the vast atlantic ocean centuries ago, and then how many more died after they got to this wild country, with almost no medical services if your kid got sick or injured? why not try to make political hay out of their risky acts to have a better life here?
