Democrats get some very, very bad news

Bugsy, I responded to the information.

The government declared a medical emergency; not for an emergency that was happening, but for an emergency that might happen. And they defined what that was; they wanted to prevent the hospitals from being over whelmed. So there wasn't an emergency, there was the fear of an emergency.

Did any hospitals turn away patients? Nope. So the emergency that they were afraid of, never happened. That's why you don't declare the threat of an emergency to be an emergency. Ever hear the tale of Chicken Little?
Did any patients get substandard care because the hospitals had too many cases to deal with? Without a doubt.

okay, Bugs, have a nice day.

just remember; Trump tossed you guys a losing position and you ran with it. The DNC bought into a phoney emergency. Then Trump made you own it. Now when the economy doesn't recover, Trump is going to blame it on the Dems. Not sure if that will work for him, but how stupid did the DNC have to be to fall into that trap?
Zzzzz....

1. It was exacerbated in the cities by the liberal policies of subsidized mass transit, rent control and generous Medicaid benefits for long-term care.
2. You simply cannot (Constitutionally) hold people against their will who have no symptoms.
3. Why should I quit? The facts are all on my side. The median age of those who died is 80ish. And something like 90% are over 60 (with multiple co-morbidities). What, if an individual didn't know he had a pre-existing condition it doesn't count as having a, you know, pre-existing condition? I'm not "dismissing" the dead, I'm merely citing the facts - the vast majority of people who were forced into "lockdown" and your "social distancing" economic suicide pact had but an infinitesimal chance of even getting deathly ill from it, let alone dying. Yet you destroyed their economic situations every bit as causally as you suggesting setting up internment camps for repatriating Americans. Talk about a "sad view."
4. I don't go to church, but it is a Constitutionally protected activity (as is buying guns) that people like you cavalierly expropriate like a overbearing $10 an hour "security guard" with a bad attitude confiscating tiny bags of pot from underage concertgoers.
1. You mean because otherwise so many of those people would already be dead of starvation, pollution-related illness, or neglected treatable diseases and so wouldn’t have survived long enough to get Coronavirus?

business as usual for hospitals.

how about the 99% of US hospitals that went empty all through this pandemic?

99% of the nation had an empty hospital waiting for care they never needed... that's a national emergency?

I'm not voting for Trump, are you crazy? This is Trump's tyranny, no president ever stepped this hard on the Constitution. I'm living under fascist rule. this is insane. I'm not voting for it. I'm not voting for a vegetable either. Has anyone in government stood up against this tyranny? Not really. Not one hard line stance against it that I can see. We are in a very bad way, right now, this is scary.
This is the part where you will see a humility-infused apology and retraction for making multiple declarations to the contrary that you are and will be a Trump voter. After great self-examination, a very circumspect lefty will step up, own his error, and offer unambiguous, full-throated mea culpa. Right?

I know you consider yourself a left-of-center person as well, Days - but these guys are as illiberal as it gets. You really should carefully describe yourself not as “left”, but as an independent liberal. You actually listen, respond in good faith, are open to change if/when appropriate, and routinely introspect - - and it shows in your posts.
It’s really a drag what has become of both self-proclaimed “liberals” and self-described “conservatives”.

Vote 3rd party! (I know you will). :)

oh, I am voting 3rd party the rest of my life. When a fascist state is overtaking the republic and the status quo defends the tyranny as necessary for our safety from a non-existent threat... Jesus, you can't make this sh*t up.

I don't know where I fit into this political spectrum. I just want to see government of the people by the people for the people. Is anybody pushing that? Other than you and me?

yeah...if not for subsidized mass transit.....sheesh.

what about #2? Since when can the government quarantine healthy people? We've been placed under house arrest without a trial. You don't see any problem with that?
Of course he doesn't. The Democrat party's entire reason for being is to deprive people of their civil rights.

I disagree. They also want to take away our jobs. Jimmy Dore went off on this recently. We spent more than enough gold to hold the economy together well through the election, but completely f*cked the pooch.

This Obama advisor guy is merely saying that the economy will go up from where it is now...

Foundational issue: Any system must begin from a position that man is fundamentally flawed, fallen. We must all be baseline “Augustinian” at least skeletally or we elevate weaknesses. Left or right - individualist or collectivist - diffuse power and competing checks are a must until such time that Christ returns. Concentrated authority will fail us every time. As far as temporal politics goes, it really is that simple. There is no systemic “holy spirit” that infuses the state with Christ as He does with individual who choose Him.

At least that’s my flawed, frail, imperfect Augustinian take.

Sadly, tyranny is what the world offers in His absence.
