Butcher Haig wasn't lionised by anyone in the UK, outside of the flunkies at the top.

Britain never released any account of the numbers who died from the "Spanish Flu", as far as I know, we still haven't. Estimates, for overall SP deaths vary from 20 million to over 80 million.

If you're interested; the official British version of how SP started was british soldier who was gassed, and, then caught the flu. The two somehow joined together. He then infected a wounded US soldier who then, on being repatriated to the US, infected other US soldiers, who then brought the flu back to Europe. Reminds me of the official cause of AIDS in three US cities, and Tokyo; apparently it was all down to an infected, randy, homosexual, Canadian flight attendant. The official reason for AIDS starting in Africa has changed several times. The first, official, reason given was that a virus from a green monkey had got accidently mixed in with a batch of polio vaccine. That changed to a Congolese male who shagged a green monkey, which, incidentally is about the size of a chicken. The latest, official, reason is that a group of Congolese hunters caught it from green monkeys.

Believe it, or not, those are official explanations.

Field Marshal & Earl Sir Douglas Haig’s post mortem full circle history of going from being the allies' glorious victorious military leader, to then being labeled a butcher & back to being a victorious leader, e.g. “What comes around, comes around” are the embodiment of European historians contradictions trying to rewrite a credible coherent history.
    Specifically & to the point:
Once Germany was defeated, the Brits claimed that they & they alone had won WWI & to this point, Haig was lionized as the military leader that led the allies to victory & when he died on January 1928, he was buried with full pompous military honors, laid in state at Westminster Abbey then paraded before hundreds of thousands of adoring Brits with the funeral cortege followed by princes & marshals.
But then his widow published his war diaries that Haig had kept under wraps & in spite of the careful manicuring by the publishers Haig’s convictions of his glorious victories in such places as the Somme, Passchendale, Cambrai, etc., etc that by that time, the Brits had accepted as defeats led to labeling the butcher, a butcher.

On my reference “British Butchers & Bunglers of WWI” page 163, Arthur Behrund in his book “As From Kemmel Hill” he states & in his words:
As can be expected, what ensued was that the guys like Lloyd George, including Winston Churchill that had previously put Haig on a pedestal, including hanging that enormous heroic painting of Haig in parliament were then the very 1st in labeling the butcher, a butcher & dozens of books were written to this effect while maintaining those preposterous claims like those of the 330,000 Germans killed by Brits in the spring of 1918 with the inconsistency that the BEF military leader Haig didn’t know what he was doing & talking about in those false glorious victories he claimed.

But now & because of these inconsistencies, we have now come around full circle & the Butcher Douglas Haig is once again a Glorious Victorious military leader in present day British historians’ literature such as Major General Sir John Davidson’s book, gloriously titled, “HAIG MASTER OF THE FIELD” Peter Nevill, 1953.

Some of the top brass may lionise Haig, he certainly wasn't by the general public. Sure, a lot turned up for his funeral, it was a good show, just as many turned up for Thatchers' funeral.

LLoyd George hated Haig, and, I believe was the first to give him the nic "Butcher Haig".

As for the general public believing that Britain had won the war, of course they did. Do you think that the UK media made much of the Yank involvement? The Yanks did help to win WW I but they didn't do it all on their own - we did manage to kill a few Germans you know.

    Best regards etc

Hi WULK, I just got back from a Thanksgiving trip to California.

It’s hard, if not impossible to find in all of the military history, a more incompetent military commanding general than Butcher Douglas Haig & even as a cavalry officer, Haig didn’t have clue.
    Specifically & to the point:
As late as 1918, of my reference “British Butchers & Bunglers of WWI,” on Page 151 at Amiens in 1918, he ordered a tank attack to stand down to allow a full cavalry frontal assault on the German’s positions with the expected results of the death of that entire British cavalry division.
The school on the use of cavalry against infantry dates back to the times of Alexander the Great cavalry tactics in Persia & rule number one was never to use the cavalry in frontal assaults against infantry formations because these were organized to ward off such cavalry charges (although, conceivably the British Empire may have used cavalry in frontal assaults against disorganized fighters in Africa or India) .

In the Crimean war, when the military commanders of the Heavy & Light brigades were misinformed by the messenger that they were to attack the Russian’s canons at the opposite end of the valley, these two commanders discussed among themselves that it was a fine day to die in that suicidal frontal assault that they were ordered to lead. Once the cavalry charge started, the Heavy Brigade commander saw that they were alone realizing it had been a mistake & ordered his brigade to stop shouting that they had sacrificed the Light Brigade but they would not sacrifice his Heavy Brigade (by that time, the Light Brigade was in full gallop mode beyond the point of no return & literally all 600 were wiped out)
But more important, Haig never learned from his mistakes because after the defeat at Cambrai on November 1917 & that British historians describe to this very day as a “Glorious Victory” forgetting that it’s not how the battle gloriously started, but how it tragically ended. Haig the Butcher knew Cambrai had been a defeat (although later in his memoirs he decided it was a victory after all) & erroneously decided tank warfare was a failure. Consequently Haig ordered his tanks number to be reduced by a third & that those left were to be used as strong points, “BEHIND” the Brits front lines ignoring the fact that these machines had been designed to attack over enemy trenches (Page 151 of my previous reference).

Haig the Butcher was incapable of adapting to events from the days of the Somme to the bitter end & forever continued to use massive bayonet frontal assaults (like those he claimed had inflicted 330,000 Hun casualties in 1918) however these tactics (including using improvements like a timed forward creeping cannon barrage, etc., etc.) always yielded the same tragic results as in the Somme where the Brits’ assault waves were entirely mowed down to the last man & this lasted for hours with each successive assault wave that was unable to reach the German defenses until the French (using German “Sturmtruppen” tactics) were able to secure their objectives on the southern flank forcing the Germans to retreat to their 2nd line of defense allowing the Brits to advance.
    CONCLUSSION:
The Cambrai “INITIAL” tank attack battle was the one & only one battle that the Brits managed to come close to bleeding the German’s noses & period because they, the Brits never abandoned their frontal bayonet assault tactics that the German’s in dept defense strategy was designed to handle at a minimum cost to the German defenders as it happened on the Somme.

    Ergo:
The Brits claims of having killed those 330,000 Huns in 1918, 600,000 Huns in 2017, etc., etc., etc. were forever inflated to the nth power & then to make matters worse, they the Brits, ended up believing these grossly inflated numbers to the nth power & never changed tactics.
    Best Regards

All 600 plus of the Light Brigade weren't wiped out; just under half of the Brigade were killed or wounded. Incidentally - the survivors were reported to have volunteered to charge again, if ordered.

Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday.

Haig certainly isn't lionised in the UK of today, he's still known as "Butcher" Haig.

Do you know that he was judged too thick to take the officers entrance exam, it was only through the influence, and his friendship with the King, that he was granted a commission. He never visited the wounded because, it's reported, the sight of blood make him physically sick. He never had personal reconnaissance of the battle grounds that he planned his offensives on. One time, one of his staff officers visited Flanders, and reacted in horror; he was reported as saying: "Surely, we never ordered you to advance over this?"

I've no respect for the man or his tactics.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

    John M. McCrae

Didja watch the 5 part Apocalypse World War I series on the American Hero Channel lately? All original footage, some colorized. What the soldiers and some civilians endured was appalling.

    Environmentalist Are Vicious Regressive Mutants

Pollution is antiseptic. It stopped plagues from continuing their history of mass slaughter. Auto pollution had not reached enough strength yet to prevent the Spanish Influenza.

Natural air is the most toxic of all. Undeveloped Nature has always been hostile to mankind; the jealous enemies of productive science have always worshiped it. They created the slur term "pollution," which should be replaced by the neutral term, byproducts.

The difference between air in industrialized civilization and deadly "Clean Air" is the difference between driving down a rocky road and driving down one where people are lined up throwing rocks at you.

Man Must Exploit Nature or Man Must Exploit His Fellow Man

Trustfundie Treehuggers are degenerate frauds. A sane person would not argue with them on their own terms and question the very foundation of their preaching, which is that "pollution" is harmful at any level. It's like if you didn't believe in the Bible, you wouldn't try to argue with a Christian basing your arguments on the Bible. You are obviously a mind slave fanboy of political celebrities.

Today September 24, 2018 is the 100th anniversary when our Country broke through the Germans impregnable defenses for the 2nd time after St Mihiel ending once & for all four long years of stalemate that had cost the Allies millions of lives in fruitless attempts to break though the Germans multi-layer defenses.
