182 years ago today, on Feb. 23rd, 1836, San Antonio [Béxar] was occupied by about 1500 Mexican troops, surrounding the Alamo. The Mexican army quickly raised a blood-red flag signifying "No Quarter". Soon after, a Mexican bugler sounded the request for parley. Col. William Travis responded with a shot from the Alamo's 18-pound cannon.
